Its been two years or so since I've "discovered" the cosmos and set out to discover myself and cure cancer. I gave up the tube and took up Hume and the humanists. Having sat up late one night, I realized three things 1) Philosophy is nothing short of tossed salad 2) I gave up God 3) and now im stalking him A good read and learning something new everyday about my world are all very good but I'm happy to have tripped on this little post (one that Pollux started concerning his secret passion for explosives) and see that you people are not as reticent as I am to hang out dirty laundry. Pollux has confessed us his explosive secrets, as has Ralph Nader, and I-forget-who's related a fantasy of chopping heads off. I suggest we all come to terms with ourselves and confess what secrets we've kept after graduating from *informed generalists* to the hard-nose truth seekers, I hope, we seek to be. So here are mine: ( let there be no snickering or finger pointing, assuming we all agree pop culutre is a proverbial boil on the ass) 1. There's something about reality tv that's captivating. I've seen all episodes of Making the Band with Puff Daddy. I tried convincing myself the only reason I did was becuase it was mesmerizing to see Seinfield's face on a black man but there's no Puffy on Fear Factor, BlindDate or FifthWheel. 2. I've also seen all the episodes of a reality show about sororoty girls on MTV. 3. I wish i had a slave with good ears. I don't want to be his friend, lover, confidant or anything- just a deposit box I could tell how much Mr. Roper on Three's Company looks like the psychic Sylvia Brown or how much Usher (r&b singer) litereally looks like those little troll dolls widely marketed in the early 90's. 4. I love commercials, especially around the Super Bowl.

My you folks are icy. Its fat cooties and being the only kid on the playground with no friends all over again. What I meant was that no one is cognizant with neat margins- however hard we seek to not be the bubble gum prototypes on MTV with no other claim to literacy save that of Reader's Digest and high school classics the lines will always be blurry. There are no absolutes. No matter how hard I delve into evolution, quantum theory, astrophysics, the social sciences and Nietzche there's still that part of me that likes to see people gutted and heads blown up. I don't know why. What I'd like is to not care to see the look on a stupid teen's face on some talk show, but I find myself sometimes tuned like all the other minions I've sought to stray from. AND I DON"T KNOW WHY. I want incredibly bad not to. I was only wondering if any of you were like that.

pumpo I ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE ITS A MENACE. And why? Becuase I've had to taste the bitterness of finding myself a lazy zombie so late in life becuase of it. I know I absolutely believe I do and its not self-deception because it didnt take a weekend to find out. I know because I don't feel like a summer soldier......I feel im fighting and in for the long run. I've lost plenty of sleep over it and have even come to hate myself sometimes. I lapped up all that canned information like the peasants I read about and thought was superior to becuase they were so low-classed they actually subscribed to the lunacy of divine right and sovereringty where I never would. AND I DID.
when did this "revelation" occur to you....or was it gradually making itself known in your subconscious all along? why do you say you are a "lazy zombie" ...are you sure you are just not being too hard and down on yourself at this particular junction in your life? we all go through those times..and, come out of it basically unscathed...ya know?
But I wasn't trying to be humurous. I really do like commercials and have actually bought a "Pink" CD (for shame!), I really do watch Three's Company and all that. What gave me the idea was that Pollux on some other post confessed to putting his books down now and then to glow blow something up. I thought most of you guys would join me but..........ouch. And the question is this: If you found yourself sitting at a bookstore and suddenly realized you were 21 years old and just had the most profound of conversations with a 17 year old that's not already a systems analyst he could with one brilliant sentence finally put way any jaundiced debate you still had for creationism, would you not feel your time was wasted? And then you ask yourself where that time went, that same time he used investing in self-fullfilment, reading, and graduating from informed generalism that the lot of us are guilty of? That time was spilled on prayer, waiting for someone else to fix things. That time was spent on not questioning. That was time was robbed by illusions of karma and 'one of these days, when the Good Lord......' Naturally, the next thing one does on findingthe self so damn old and having wasted so much potential on account of laziness is to find someone else to put the blame on. And there's no one but you. It was up to me to construc my own vehicles and I blew it. Now its my turn. That's what religion does to you. Period.
Oh, but of COURSE. Give me a book any day!!!! Don't get to conjuring up a fat finger with crumbs of pork rind on the end pointing at the tube and laughing. I don't watch that much television. Actually, I don't watch much at all. It's just that sometimes the logic clocks out and the yesteryears come back sweetly calling. And that too is a menace. I've actually don't have my television anymore. But the friends do.
my, you are a terribly interesting soul... and, you speak with much wisdom for someone only 21 years old. please don't berate yourself so much, however....you have many more miles in you.....it sounds like you have a good grasp on who you are, however, but...it's just getting to who-you-want-to-become that sounds like what's giving you fits...take it easy on yourself. who cares about the 17 year-old analyst...if that is indeed what he was. (do you know him personally...how do you know he wasn't "fibbing" to you?) look at it this way.....his "brilliance" might really be a genetic flaw..who knows?
He had the skin of an old sow with a rash, the kind you and I would have if all we had in this world wereCrisco, corn chips, and sugar. Of course he was 17 years old. Remember I said this was 2 years ago. I'm 23 now. And if it is in fact a genetical flaw (ha!), meaning there's a break somewhere in his chromosomes, may 'providence' rip through mine with a chain saw.

Before I stick my neck out on the next forum and you being the only one in the fold that's even cared to know I'm here, would you mind giving your opininion before I'm clawed with dead silence the next time I post? I've had this idea of showing up at a KKK rally the next time they come around. Living in the south, this happens often. Anyway, the last time they were here we had the run of the mill dichotomy - on one side of the fence sheets bantering racial slurs, an angered audiance yelling back to a pop in the lung on the other. Why not have the whole community- black,white, Asian, Muslim, Jewish, Croat, Buddhist, Hindu- everyone get together on the other side of that same fence and have a block party instead? They've been having these rally's since the early 50's when they began wrapping themselves with the First Ammendment and no progress has come of it since though the crowds have thinned out a bit - but maybe the totally unexptected while blasting good music might do some good for a change. We have as much right. Don't we? I let some friends in on this once, but there's this whole dork thing they usually revert to becuase they're not the thinking type though I love them to death. And you people seem to like good ideas.....presumably, anyway. It'd be hella interesting. No?

You don't really think I'be be clowning around in curtains, do you? Of course I'd be on the other end where the party would be, passing out corndogs with the Jews and hispanics. I thought this was a really good idea- seriously. I expected people to rally to their stations but no one seems to be as excited as I am. I did alot of pillowarming on that one and even sought to spool an essay just for it. But time you know....it's always that. So, I asked you. Interesting to hear you think British. I'm not, far from it. The voice I think with is British and always has been- clueless as to why.
