I expected to learn a lot about the phenomenon of stuttering and the techniques used in attempting to cure it. I was very disappointed.

Never heard of it, but rented it based on your recommendation. I'll watch it tonight or tomorrow.

    Then don't listen to me!
    I absolutely hated it.
It was a tedious catalogue of incompetence and stupidity, with few (one, IIRC) actual laughs.
That's another hour or so of my life that I'll never get back.

Ohh...that's not good. Although it is Friday, and am planning to have a few adult beverages while watching....maybe that will help. Fortunately, there's this thing called the "off button" if it gets too bad.

I used it last night while attempting to watch "Rio". Not really a bad movie...just not much for an adult audience.

lol, thats fair enough. Its one of those movies, some people love it and others hate it. It is a dark comedy, alot of silly jokes and I think people out of the UK might not pick up all the jokes, but there should be enough laughs in there for everyone.

I agree (with your second sentence). The only reason I watched it all the way through was because my sister and brother in law (who lent it to me) had spent most of that week telling me how wonderful it was.

I subsequently killed her to avoid any possible loss of more time due to films she recommends.

    try 'Across the universe'

it uses Beatles songs to tell the story (it has Bono singing I am the walrus)
    not your standard musical
oh..and it has marylin mansons wife (she is way to cute for him) and it shows her briefly naked..

I've seen this crazy animation recently: A Town called Panic (2009). It's so funny.

Funny? Funny how? (There was Goodfellas (1990) on TV last night. I realized how influential its fast story telling style became on the following 20 years of cinema. Especially if they want to tell stories about a network of relationships, and want to do it in first person singular)

"Deja Vue" with Densel Washington. Great flick, have seen it a few times, will likely view it again.

"Kiss of the Dragon" with Jet Li. Excellent story (Li wrote it) great acting, superb Gung Fu as always with Li. 5 out of 5 for this one.

    Liked "Tron: Legacy"
"Limitless" was good but I wanted more.
"Thor" entertained, though I was hoping for a little more.

Anyone got any newish sci fi recs?

Yeah, Limitless was a good movie that just suddenly ended right when the plot was coming to a head. I was frankly baffled when it ended - still wondering if there wasn't supposed to be another half hour there that got axed for budget or marketting reasons or something. Could have been rather good if it wasn't chopped off at the knees.

Nah, that one was terrible. Only remarkable thing is that they somehow got Natalie Portman and Kenneth Branagh to work on that poor excuse for a piece of crap. Not that either of them are avatars of high cinema or anything, but surely they aren't exactly starving for work.
