So is everyone done with their Christmas shopping yet? Are you on budget or are you already over?

We are a small family and gift with card enclosures so that the recipient may select a gift of their own desire and choice.

Mother is hosting the meal for those family members who reside in this town and I am bringing the liquid fortification.

For friends and neighbors that I may have opportunity to visit between Christmas and the New Year, I take food treats and a Christmas card. One more card and letter to mail off before Monday.

Visiting before Christmas? You must be joking.

I work retail grocery graveyards and the customers are at the height of their shopping frenzy. I can't wait for the 24th, my last shift before 3 days off. I think it was a year ago when I last had 3 days off in a row, lol....

I think I'm on budget as well. Girlfriend and I are going half-sies on some of the gifts, like for her parents, siblings, and our mutual friends. Also, participating in a white elephant exchange.

. When the Missus retires in 2017 we are talking of an excursion. Which month is it that the snow melts for a few days?

There are probably many more people in your situation, farther93, and I am sure they will be able to empathize.

Although the retail sector would have us believe that shopping is the main event of this season, it is far more 'giving' to take some time from our busy day-to-day to catch up with friends, family and community, sharing ideas and plans and possibly a meal or a beverage.

We generally eat several times a day anyway, and it can be a simple pleasure to break bread with others, no matter how simple the fare.

The season is about sharing personal time and space, IMO, and not about collecting more chattel.

In my personal opinion, the end of May or early June are the nicest months for experiencing the Yukon. The leaves come out anytime after the middle of May and spring is pretty much in full swing as we head into June.

With the changing weather patterns, though, who knows what to expect? I'll keep you posted.....
