Mother is hosting the meal for those family members who reside in this town and I am bringing the liquid fortification. I can't wait for the 24th, my last shift before 3 days off. I think it was a year ago when I last had 3 days off in a row, lol....
I think I'm on budget as well. Girlfriend and I are going half-sies on some of the gifts, like for her parents, siblings, and our mutual friends. Also, participating in a white elephant exchange.

There are probably many more people in your situation, farther93, and I am sure they will be able to empathize. Although the retail sector would have us believe that shopping is the main event of this season, it is far more 'giving' to take some time from our busy day-to-day to catch up with friends, family and community, sharing ideas and plans and possibly a meal or a beverage. We generally eat several times a day anyway, and it can be a simple pleasure to break bread with others, no matter how simple the fare. In my personal opinion, the end of May or early June are the nicest months for experiencing the Yukon. The leaves come out anytime after the middle of May and spring is pretty much in full swing as we head into June. With the changing weather patterns, though, who knows what to expect?
