Hi.. Just wanted to see if anyone remembers the fad pictures from the 90's called Autostereograms.

Hopefully the picture is not overly offensive! But can anyone tell what it is?

Can you see a large mermaid in the picture below. It is over 4" in length.

    To view a auto-stereo-gram

    http://www.colorstereo.com/texts_.txt/practice.htm

HINT: You must look through the auto-stereo-gram as if it were a window. Try to focus 10 inches behind the picture. Algorythms are used to place dots along the path of both your eyes towards a background image.

Just wanted to remind people what autostereograms were, and hopefully introduce a few people who cannot remember them, as they were fun. I also have made use of them for other things, but mainly this is to bring back the fad on sciforums.

I've always hated these things. I just can't see what supposedly is in those pictures, and practice doesn't bring anything either.

Are there eye conditions that make the viewing of these impossible? as above for instance, Fish Eye disease.

Manyy people look on the surface for a picture. You actually need to make your eyes go blurry and focus in the distance. The picture really is quite obvious if you know how.

    @ Robittybob1,
A person NEEDS 2 eyes and depth perception (normal vision) to see these, plus training sometimes.

    here is video instructions.

I've always found these resultant images to be anticlimactic—they all end up looking like styrofoam.

I can't do them either. My 3D visualization is too powerful to turn off.

Sculpted from styrofoam. The first image is of a skinny female on all fours wearing an army helmet. She's made of styrofoam and couldn't possibly be thought of as being horny.

Correct. I apologize. I thought you could not see the answer because everyone who cannot see would say that.

I thought it was a construction helmet. Hmmm

I tried... I failed. Couldn't see anything. Went crosseyed though!

I always see them inside out.
It is either an animal or a person crawling.
