For years, I dealt with congested sinuses and always sounded as though I had a cold coming on. At first I thought it was allergies to external causes such as cigarette smoke, gyproc dust, pollens and the like, and I was taking a lot of vitamins B and C as they are believed to be helpful for such.

Then I began to study nutrition in response to aches and pains that I was experiencing in my hands and lower back muscles, which I had first ascribed to the manual labor which I prefer to do.

As soon as I began to make changes in my diet, the sinus thing also cleared up. It was primarily dairy which was the trigger for my sinus issues and now I use butter (fats are neutral in food combining) and very few cheeses in moderation,

The aches have also disappeared, and they were also due to excess dairy, a lot of wheat and the many chemical compounds added to processed food.

By far the one that bothers me the worst is Tartrazine, and it is in so many things, not always listed by name, often only named as 'color', or FDR Red or Yellow.

I went to put a slice of dill pickle with my meal the other day and for some reason thought to check the label, as hubby had bought these, not I. Tartrazine is now being added to most pickles!

Avoiding the majority of processed foods has eliminated my aches and pains and I am in better physical condition than the majority of those who are considerably younger than I am.

I am of the opinion that science will eventually identify that many of our illnesses are related to food and lifestyle.

They likely can already prove it but money talks and the food and drug lobbies will sacrifice the career of anyone who dares to go public with any such claim. :bugeye:

Late teens through early 30's I suffered with cluster headaches. There were many times the pain was so bad that if someone would have given me a hand gun I might have used it. I went to a very good internist and went through just about every nasty test they could do all with negative results. I tried every type of regular and experimental treatment you can think of with very little help. Then in my mid 30's my lifestyle change a bit and the headaches stopped. I was at a complete loss as to what it was, then after a few pain free years I met a woman that was burning some incense and within about 15-20 minutes I started to feel one of those headaches coming on. You would have thought I would have made that connection sooner. But the problem with incense is that when you burn it in your home the smoke particles get on everything, so you still have reactions when not burning it. Yes I did call the doctor that treated me over the years and let him know what I found about the cause.

An interesting reaction to incense, but a very logical one, depending on how often one was burning it. I used incense once to encourage a nest of wasps to relocate without having to harm them.

There are some very good incenses from more natural products which seem less offensive than so many of the inexpensive variants which are artificially concocted for their virtue of being cheap to manufacture.

We also used to burn a lot of incense to keep the house free of cooking odors and 'digestion' odors.

The change of diet has had the added benefit of ridding the house of the noxious odors. Proper food combining and attention to balanced nutrition will relieve the symptoms of heartburn, bloat and flatulence in the majority of persons, based on the observed results of those with whom I have shared my findings.

Back in those days almost everybody I knew burned incense. I was never able to get away from it long enough to help me make that connection until in my late 30's. Also, I never did learn what ingredient was causing me the trouble. Someone even suggested it could have been the binding material. I only know that experience changed my entire life and not in any positive way.

I don't get sick . I can eat lead , Asbestos, mercury and the likes and nothing. I never ate no plutonium and well would not want to take the risk after you all built up all the fear mongering about it all.
Some say it is my genetic disposition . Well there must be a reason why. My genetics would be a hot topic of conversation at the minimum you would think as the keys of good health lie in the basket .

I think it is state of mind my self as I don't get stress. Who fucking cares . Just do it. Be a good slave and like it weather it rains or shines .
I get it from my mothers side . They can eat poison and live even better than my fathers side . I ask my self this very question of why ? They don't get stress. It is not in there make up . More so than my fathers side. My father says they are complacent , but there not . They just are not concerned about displaying there activeness publicly and they do it with out a lick of stress . They live a lot longer than my fathers side of the family by several decades. ( (90s to 100s) where as my Fathers side like clock work 70 to about 85.
Montana has a layed back culture and well we got many many people over a 100 years that are still active and living at home . Our oldest Man in the World died recently . 114 or 115 something like that , but there are plenty more nipping at the heels of record keeping. One old lady is 103 and still driving if you can believe that .

Anyway get the stress out of you life . It will kill you deader than dead

That explains a lot. How old were you when you were eating these substances?

You make a most excellent point in regard to stress, Me-Ki-Gal.

When one really examines matters, a great deal of stress is totally useless, about things we cannot have any effect over. We will just have to deal with weather events and natural disasters as and when they occur. Our species is generally quite capable of dealing with the unexpected based on our ever increasing population and expanded range of habitat.

Then, too, there is the stress that we are conditioned to expect, the stress caused by the consumer industry, which relies for much of it's profit on the marketing of fear and greed.

Once we learn to step back and think for ourselves about which things are truly essential for a happy and healthy life, we can often relieve ourselves of a great deal of the burden of financial stress factors.

It's January and many people will be facing mountains of bills rung up by their celebration of Christmas and gift-giving.

The most valuable gift any of us can give is our time. It sure lightens up those credit card bills.

I think the only legitimate disease i have right now is a bad case of tinea pedis . I've had it for 10 to 20 years actually -- never have been able to get rid of it despite numerous meds and cleaning. Now its under a couple of my nails.

I overcame various mental problems that i suspect were all related to each other and also had quite a strong genetic component. I also had really bad headaches for several years form my late teens to early twenties that could have been attributed to a combination of aneamia, poor diet and substance abuse. Nothing major really, i consider myself quite lucky compared to many others.

    Yeah, what about you DarksidZz?

Tinnitus, Painful Bladder Syndrome and breathing troubles due to allergies mostly. I manage them but never overcame them, unfortunately my dad has tinnitus pretty badly so much so he got hearing aids to mask it (not entirely successful). Oddly the condition surfaced when I was very young and has been random on/off but now it's more prominent. Painful Bladder Syndrome surfaced when I was young as well and it has been on/off throughout the years. For around 5 years I never even noticed it then it returned and I'm dealing with it now. The breathing issues have always been present but were better when I lived in California as oppose to Illinois. God I miss the beach

Actually I never had any medical problems while growing up. A cold every now and then was about all I ever had. I was lucky I guess and had good genes from my parents that also helped.

Tinnitus, yeah I have that to some degree. Sometimes it's worse than other times. If I'm having a bad night trying to sleep, I just leave the TV on low volume and that helps a lot. I know what you mean about missing the beaches in California. I grew up walking distance from Torrance Beach about 10 miles south of LAX.

It is interesting that Tinnitus is not a disease, but a symptom that can result from a wide range of underlying causes. Tinnitus is already fairly common and I would not be surprised to observe an increase in the symptom with so many people wearing ear bud speakers and listening to volumes that can be heard by another from 4 meters distance.

Where people congregate, they are subjected to a constant hum of sound 24/7 from the technology that enables living in such high densities. When people come to the Yukon, and visit my home which is just outside of the city, they always remark on how quiet it is. Actually, it is not quiet at all for nature is always playing a symphony. What they are noticing, sometimes for the first time in their life, is an absence of that 'white noise' to which they have become habituated.
