    The inventor said his name is pronounced Lai-nus in English, Lee-nus in the nordic's. At the end he says Len-ux is always Len-ux.

    You couldn't make it through 16 second video?

    I'll just add this; I have worked on Linux kernel modules and developed on Linux (in some fashion) for almost a decade. Some of my acquaintances actually work on the production Linux kernel. I have never in my life heard someone serious call it "Lee-nux" or "Lai-nux".

    The only versions I have ever heard are "Lie - nux" and "Lin - ux".

    Indeed - and the only people who use the former are newbs who think they can one-up others by making the pronunciation closer to that of "Linus." Little do they know that Torvalds himself as explicitly disavowed their favored pronunciation.

    Honestly, I haven't heard any usage other than "Lin - ux" in years now. Surprised that this is still coming up...

    It depends on what your native language would pronounce, in Malaysia, the malay language would pronounce Li-nux, Li as Lie in English. Nux as Nurse.

    I've always pronounced it Lee-nux. But others are always quick to correct me. Nonetheless, I still pronounce it the same way, probably because it sounds better to my ear.

    Li = Lee in Malay,
    Nux sounds like nurse with "ze" voice.

    I pronounce Malay like "Mee-luh", everyone always looks at me strange but I don't give a damn. Knowing a unique pronunciation always makes people assume I'm the more educated on the topic.
