    It's incredibly technical, so allow us explain it in layman's terms: These nerds amazingly figured out how to put out a fire using only sound! And it's not an explode-your-eyeballs sound cannon either, it's more of a deep bass, feedback buzz. For the moment, the so-called Instant Fire Suppression System, designed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), is still rudimentary, but there's potential for it to be an effective fire suppression system in small spaces like airplane cockpits. If they figure it out, we assume the next step will be commercial applications for homes and businesses. And the thought of firefighters running around with boom boxes instead of hoses is intriguing as well

    Well you had me interested with the title, but since it's still in the development stages I am skeptical they will ever get it to work.

    Uh...they call those infrasound projectors "Disruptors". They come standard issue on interstellar space craft such as the USS Enterprise.
