I asked this at a bad time in another thread, but I think it's a fair question.

    * We've heard several of the pagans at this board admit that they were once Christians--myself included.

How many Christians at this board were once pagans?

    thanx

I was a pagan. I was raised somewhat in the catholic tradition but never attended church or anything except those two years I was in a parochial school and they made me go. I even made my communion. I did get a little religious experience from my grandfather who was a Jehovas Witness and always brang me to a lot of his meetings at the kingdom hall and stuff. I was an atheist. I didn't care if he existed or not. Back then I'd say if he did exist he was a jerk and I'd rather spend an eternity in hell than be with him. I was angry about my family life and all the bad stuff that goes on in the world. Its amazing how things change! Praise Jesus!

If by "pagan" you mean someone who is not a Christian, Muslim or Jew then, I've been there.

    tiassa,

Ditto the words of my Sister. I knew there was a God. Still, as all humans are born in sin I was a born pegan. My family was all pegan. God showed His glory to me bit by bit and I had to respond. His glory was too great.

As for you, Jesus asked how it is that someone who has put his hands to the plough and still looking back could be fit for the kindom of God. All througout the Bible, we are told that there are those that only hang around for a short time and leave when the heat is turned up on them. There's no such thing as a former Christian. To be a Christian is to turn fom your sin and seak to follow the Lord Christ and trust youself to Him as your Savior. The turning of your back upon Christ is proof that there was only the ritual of Christianity in you. You are a person that has trust in the workings of your own mind. It has and will fail you. As long as you think that ther is some work on your part that makes you a Christian, you will never gain the peace of Christ.

Fear of God is the start of a bright day,

Correct me if I'm wrong (Tiassa!) but I think by "Pagan" he's not referring to anyone who just isn't Christian, Jew, etc. but rather someone who is an 'actual' pagan. "Pagan" is not just a catch-all for anyone not participating in a monotheistic religion, if I'm not mistaken.

I would define "Pagan" as a nature-worshipper, someone who worships the dieties of nature and the earth.

And my answer for the poll - I have always been a pagan in my heart. I didn't know what to call myself as a youngster, but looking back, this tree-hugger has always looked up to Mother Nature.

Never a pagan; just didn't really give a hoot one way or the other. I figured if there actually was a God, then I didn't really want to know, or it wasn't really relevant, as I tried my best to be a nice person, AND DIDN'T EVER HURT ANYBODY, and it may have interfered with my sex life or partying. Just too much of a distraction, really. I was having too much fun (or so it seemed)???????? I didn't want to know. I probably would have never admitted that back then, but I really just didn't WANT to know. It's not easy looking all of those mistakes and cop-outs in your face. I didn't want to know.

Speaking of my sex life. I actually got turned on watching "The David Cassidy Story" on TV last night. Now that's pretty sad! This celibacy thing is harder than it looks. Somebody pray for me!!!!LOL!

You just have to laugh you know? Yea, or else you'll cry. Especially when you find that you're turned on by some kid in a near-circus outfit with a 1970 something contrived-flip hair-do! ROFLMAO!

And hey, keep praying for Flash. It's working of course.

    Lori -

Flip on over to the "Shroud of Turin" thread - Oxygen mentions Newt Gingrich naked. That ought to cool your jets, David Cassidy show or not.

    Skye--

Thank you much ... on the other hand, I suppose the question works either way. It kind of reminds me of the little girl who thinks she's a slut with two buns in the oven because she was a nasty girl and kissed the boy next door on the lips.

Have you ever seen an episode of "The Simpsons" in which Homer is persuaded to undertake alcohol counseling? When Flanders shows up at the meeting to recall the night some ten years ago when, after drinking schnapps--or something of the sort--he became a complete savage and referred to Ann Landers as "a boring old biddy"?

Again I find myself singing that goofy "Call it what you want" song that I last ever heard performed by Tesla, of all bands. I should mention that you're quite correct in the idea that I was searching for defined paganism ... I should have gone ahead and listed as many pagan religions as I recalled, but that--of course--creates the possibility of forgetting respectable ideas amid the list.

But thank you, again, for your attempt to clarify for our "recovered" pagans.

M'lady, every second brings fourteen pounds of sunlight across the Earth ... may each pound of every second be yours, and all the hope those seconds bring ....

    Tiassa!

Blackberry Schnapps is what Flanders was drinking.

I am addicted to The Simpsons, I admit it!

Thanks for the beautiful words! In light and in love, thank you.
