Maybe if we were in a Borg collective, Cortex.
You might as well just say that any number of instances of anything are one. But what is achieved by that?
You could say the same for the design of our biological classification: from our shared earthly attributes, we are all of the same design, sharing the same access-point to perceptivity. Hence the nature of our attained perspectives are derived from the same persuasion. Yet, certain perspectives, albeit derived from human nature, can widely differ from an individual to the many—to such an extent that said individual will feel divorced from his community, his race, or even from his own species. What does that say about consciousness, huh?Although there are many selves we all share the same rudimentary consciousness. Therefore, consciousness is One.
Thoughts/ ideas?

For all we know, certain unique perspectives might compel certain people to feel that the majority is "delusional". Who'd be right? Depends on the perspective attained, right? But to feel divorced from his species would be the height of delusion. An obfuscation of one's true nature.

Apart from disagreeing with you, there is not much we can say.
I actually agree with you, and I'd like to add that the ''one'' you speak of is (the concept) God.
What say ye?

You state one thing..."Although there are many selves"
But say another..."Therefore, consciousness is One."
So you can't have it both ways. Since there are "many" then there must be many thoughts going on about many things but in certain cases there is a consensus about one or two things that we all agree upon which would tend to suggest that only at that point are we in unity with each other.
You are onto the truth except that we have individual physical selves with individual upbringing and intellect but we share one and only one consciousness, otherwise we would be perceiving separate realities.

Nonsense! We currently have no way of connecting consciousnesses. That's why some people perceive things we do not, like the schizophrenic and the religious.
In a sense, everything is one, but the illusion of consciousness creates information that is not shared.
No, the one I speak of is that of consciousness.
What's the difference?
jan.
If there was one consciousness, then you would understand our viewpoint that what you say makes no sense.
I'd recommend Carl Jung's . . . . Collective Comsciousness . . . . BTW: IMPO, there is a subquantum path that ties all individual conscioussness' to a simcle collective consciousness . . . . and yes . . . . it very likely is "God" . . . !
