The sum of 3 7/8 and 1 1/3 is less than the difference between 3/8 and 1 2/3 by what? The problem states that 125/24 is less than 31/24; that as 125/24 is less than 31/24, then by how much is (125/24) less than 31/24? I think that question has no answer and does not make any meaning since 125/24 can never be less than 31/24. How do you guys see it?
\(3 \frac{7}{8}=\frac{93}{24}\) \(1 \frac{1}{3}=\frac{32}{24}\) The sum of the two is \(\frac{125}{24}=5\frac{5}{24}\). \(\frac{3}{8} = \frac{9}{24}\) \(1\frac{2}{3} = \frac{40}{24}\) The difference between the two is \(\frac{31}{24}=1\frac{7}{24}\). Obviously, the sum of the first two numbers is not less than the difference of the second two.
That means the question is usless and has no base since it does not make any (what is said is not true) sense.
But do you believe that 31/24 can be greater than 125/24 in a way? 31/24 can be greater than 125/24 by (31/24-125/24) = -94/24 = -3 22/24.
I'm quoting this to encourage you to re read what you wrote and recognise the utter abject ridiculousness of it. You are essentially asking if 31 can be greater than 125.
Yes, 31 can never be greater than 125 in the real sense, but that is another way of saying that 31 is greater than 125.
