Laptop won't start. Screen is always black. Eventually it just turns on but there is no screen or indication that it is booting up. Disk drive sounds like it is searching. Cannot turn it off unless the battery is removed. Ideas?

Try connecting someone else's monitor and see if that works.

If it does, then you 'just' need a new monitor.

If it doesn't, try changing the graphics card.

Try this: Immediately after switching the laptop on, press the esc key. This should bring up the start up BIOS (That is if it isn't the display itself that is bad). If not, try checking HP support for how to access the start up for your particular model. If you get the start up screen, there should be a option for a start up test. This will test all the different components of your laptop. Run it. If anything comes up as a "fail" you've found the problem.

I'm not sure, but it might be a hard drive failure.

You may try to reinstall your windows, yet to solved your problem then you should go to customer support/technical support of seller. Because without practical checking, this problem can't be solved.

I have an HP laptop that sometimes has this problem.

    My solution (works every time):

    Battery out
    Unplug
    Hold power 10 seconds
    Release power
    Plug in
    Battery in
    Turn on

Pray to whoever you wish that it works as for I.
