I've taken up Android programming and now need a good audio converter. I have some WMA files that need to be converted to MP3. I know there are many free software packages online, but my fear is that I'll get more than I wanted. Does anybody have a handle on a Good, Safe, and Free program that can convert audio files?
Why not just Google it? http://www.google.com/#sclient=psy-...16,d.eWU&fp=b3b481de5120af30&biw=1120&bih=597
Yes, plenty out there. My fear is downloading something malicious. I was hoping someone might have experience with a specific product.
I wont look one up, but Majorgeeks dot com usually has a variety of freeware that can do this sort of thing. http://www.majorgeeks.com/Freemake_Free_Audio_Converter_d7149.html ok looked one up. I trust that website. Always scan anyways. This one had been downloaded more than 13000 times with a 5/5 rating.
If you use CNET, they screen for viruses etc. Anything you download from them should be safe. Also they give user comments and other information. http://download.cnet.com/windows/?tag=hd_ts
I opted for an online option... http://www.youconvertit.com It was kind of a hassle, but I made it work.
Audacity! Audacity is open source, can import, edit, export to just about any format, is simple, free, well documented and supported on various platforms
Well, it looked like a source that can be trusted, so I downloaded it. Unfortunately, it can't work with Window Media Files. It still looks like an excellent package, and I'm sure I'll put it to good use. Thank you.
I use "Format Factory", which you can get from either snap files or cnet. http://download.cnet.com/FormatFactory/3000-2194_4-10968547.html?tag=mncol;1
I use Mediacoder. It can handle almost anything I throw at it - video and audio. Audacity is good as well for editing, but Mediacoder would be my recommendation.
Audacity is good. Google it you would find many of them, cnet and 4shared are good locations to find software's too.
