With the US demonizing Saddam Hussein, it was a given that the "Monster" of Bagdad would soon be lost in the "dust pan of histroy," but wait!

The Arabs are now saying: "Here is an Arab that has stood up to the US!" In a region governed by wimpy athoritarian Arab sissies "owned and operated" by the US this carries much weight!

The fact that Iraqi's have not come forth with beer, hamburgers and condoms for the "conquering hero's" tells me that "trouble is a brewing" in the Middle East.

So it's a "truly remarkable achievement'', is it? General Tommy Franks says so. Everything is going "according to plan'', according to the British. So it's an achievement that the British still have not "liberated" Basra. It is "according to plan" that the Iraqis should be able to launch a scud missile from the Faw peninsula – supposedly under "British control" for more than a week.

It is an achievement, truly remarkable of course, that the Americans lose an Apache helicopter to the gun of an Iraqi peasant, spend four days trying to cross the river bridges at Nasiriyah and are then confronted by their first suicide bomber at Najaf.

One half of the entire Anglo-American force – still called 'the coalition' by journalists who like to pretend it includes 35 armies rather than two and a bit (the "bit" being the Australian special forces) – is now guarding and running the supply line through the desert. And Baghdad is bombed but not besieged...

If Saddam is a hero of the arab world, why hasn't the arab world flocked to his aid? A lot of them seem relieved that Saddam is being removed.

I somehow doubt bush takes pleasure in what hes doing. All he will get out of the presidency is a buttload of stress, people hating him, and a decent salary. No mile wide palaces like saddam or anything of the kind. Also no death squads roaming new york killing anyone who voices dissent.

He dosnt even have a massive statue of him in the middle of times square.

 

The British Forces have not yet "liberated" Basra due to a number of factors:

1, Most importantly, the desire not to hurt civilians, this naturally slows up any plans to over run anywhere.

2. The US Forces could not handle Basra without going in "guns blazing" as they do not have the necessary expertise to deal with urban warfare. The British Forces DO and had to be brought in from elsewhere. This is a war against individuals not the "mass" and as such it needs to be picked over not bulldozed.

3. To take a city, the second biggest city in Iraq, without harming civilians needs a slow, careful, delicate approach. The British Forces are experts at this and it will be done at THEIR pace, not at any pace dictated to be people or froces who do not know what they are talking about.

4. Saving civilians is the top priority - not meeting some obscure "deadline".

No plans slows up naturally this way . Are they not bright people as they say , do u actually consider that they DIDNT know people were going to be hurt BEFORE starting this operation ? So they miscalculated on this one , is that what you say ?

Now weither Saddam would be considered a hero , is for the point needed to be made irellevant . The point that needs to made would be the extreme hate that the Arab world has for Amerika for more than obvious reasons one would agree on if he would care to stop listening to the cnn and the fox jews network all the time , and start thinking for a second .
Saddam will NEVER be a hero to the Arab world , because Saddam would never be a hero of Iraq . He isnt a hero of Iraq because of many many reasons , whitch arent relevant for this point .

Let me speak of a man who IS considered the GREATEST Arab hero of the last few years and who has great potential to become the greatest Arab hero of the new millenium .
That b Usama Bin Laden , even though his religious philosophy isnt admired as his foreign policy is .

People who call this man a freak are certainly people who have something to loose because of this man . Fortunatly for him he only brings joy and proud and a feeling of justice to the hearts 200 million Arabs who whatch their corrupted governments being a toy for USA , while Israel can be without a doubt called a NAZI state and nothing happens to change anything .

I am Arab , and I consider Usama Bin Laden a hero , while I do not agree one bit with his religion . And Saddam can be a hero too untill the day the USA and Israel are down , after that it will be his turn .

But Che is beyond Usama , Che fought till the day that he died , Che stood through things Usama would never survive (although he did survive Afghanistand against the Sovyets as well as the USA)

Che was a greater hero than Usama , and in the background i do find in communism a much better potential and perspective than in Islamism .

 

oh yes... the "kill the infidels-who-are-less-than-animals in the name of (insert god's name here)" brand of philosophy. So you enjoy human torment do you?

 

NOBODY who uses the weapons of terrorism to "fight" against innocents is a hero in my book, but a yellow coward - and that includes Che.
