Are there any studies of the social effects of this? Other places that have predominately male populations(military, prison) tend to breed aggression, and a sort of counter-culture, or am I wrong? I'd like to learn more about modern Chinese culture(pre-revolution I've read a lot about).

Do you have any reports links about the missing women ?
You can see some of the local Chinese website.

    That's seriously preocupating isn't it?
This has caught my eye: " Our male ancestors were the ones who strove most frantically for status and the respect of their peers, and who won the chance to mate.
As a result, young men are hair-trigger sensitive to their circumstances, and when the number of men who will never find a mate rises, so does the intensity of the striving."
That's plain, pure primitive, nature selection of the 'strongest', i'd say that it's darwinism even. Mating selection even more brutal than what it already is
You know, China has a long history (undoubtfully also) of hard-times when it comes to solving their problems.
