but runs a 16 Gb card perfectly well.

I have a Note 3 N9000 with stock 4.3 and no root. It shows my 32 Gb SanDisk Ultra MicroSD card as being write protected in the device so that files on it can not be moved or deleted in the device or even when connected by data cable to a PC. The only way to do so is to put the card in an adapter, slide up the lock of that adapter and plug it into a pc. I have tried using registry and partition editing on my PC but this does not seem to affect its behaviour in the Note itself. What do I do? How do I remove the write protection so I can copy files to it simply by pluging the device into the Pc with a data cable [works with the 16 Gb one] and not have to remove it from it every time I want to change something or store the camera pics/videos on it?

It works if plugged with a card reader into my pc but not if attached with data cable. I cannot be written on or deleted from in the device. Its new. I just recently bought it. I formatted it both in the PC and the phone and neither removes the write protection. When taking a pic, it says "Cannot save to card". And deleting an item on it when connected to pc shows "cannot delete as the card is write protected. Disable write protection before doing this". And there is no switch on the MicroSD card, only one on the adapter. As such, it is read-only when in the device.

TL;DR: When i try to delete anything off my external SD card it wont delete. i also cant copy things from my internal storage to sd.
When i plug it into my PC with my USB cable and try to delete anything it says the same.
I've just plugged it in to my PC with a USB micro SD adapter and everything works fine.

Every single file in the card shows "Read only" with a tick but grayed out so there is no way to turn it off.

It is possible it's a bad SD card - I have seen from time to time where they fail in the absolute strangest of ways - give it a go with another SD card, and if that card works, exchange the 32GB one.

Could also be worth putting it in the PC and running checkdisk on it, just to be sure

    I tried:
Formating it in PC and Device both.
    Changing registery.
    Running Checkdisk.

    The problem is still there.

aaqucnaona, seriously, give another SD card a try. It's called binary exclusion - right now, we don't know if the issue is the card, or the phone. If you try another card in the phone and it works, we know it isn't the phone, so logically it must be the card.

The 32 Gb card works in a PC but not in the phone. All other cards work in both PC and phone.

*nods* I hate to say it, but since the phone works with other cards, it has to be something specific to that card. It could be a bad data sector or something along those lines... I'd recommend exchanging it for a new one and test the new one in the store before leaving.

EDIT - nevermind, contact SanDisk directly- they are, apparently, aware of the issue:

    You are most welcome

Things like that are rather rare with SD cards (and flash memory in general). Typically they either work completely, or not at all
