Then you actually missed something, yes. But this thread here, it's barely about ghosts at all. It's just random chitchat.
It may be, my response was a bit off topic I suppose. I just had a moment there... It seems that MR receives so much flak for posting (and attempting to defend) paranormal threads in a paranormal forum that I finally had to say something. I watched his ban and all, then being in limbo as the software changeover occurred, and so forth. Maybe I failed to appreciate the underlying rationale for the treatment he receives regarding his ghost stories. It just seems a tad hypocritical to maintain this subforum and then criticize the most prolific poster in it. I mean, unless I'm totally off the reservation it's not like he's a raving, gibbering idiot or anything. I read his threads for the same reason I read the horoscope in the newspaper - entertainment. I fail to see how rational members can get so worked up about his content... Again, this is said with the understanding that I may have missed some sort of dishonest conduct on his part. That's what I'm inferring is being implied anyway... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
No surprize... to actualy discuss the interestin video seems like it brakes Kitts new rules... thats why i asked Kitt to give an example of the proper way to have posted the video about Keana Reeves... an then i was gonna ask Kitt if it was Ok to actualy discuss said video.!!!
Thanks Randwolf. Repeatedly I get "troll!" screamed in my face here as if I am just posting these threads to jerk people's chains. That is not my intent, although I do find it strange that the very people assured that such things DON'T exist should get so worked up about them. I'm just posting interesting news and experiences that should be of general interest in a Sci Forum that prides itself in openmindedly exploring all kinds of topics. The strategy lately has been to so micromanage this subforum that nothing can be asserted at all about the paranormal without risking cesspooling or infraction. If that's what they want, why have this subforum at all then? This used to be the most unrestricted and tolerant of all the subforums. Now you practically have to have a lawyer to post here. I wish it'd just go back to the way it was.
In addition to it being like an ornamental, functionless rotary knob on an old Star Trek control panel, this forum seems redundant. If an underlying theoretical framework [below] is required to crouch events touted as paranormal in, then Alternative Theories and Pseudoscience should already inherently sport that characteristic. At the very least, "UFOs, Ghosts, and Monsters" should be relocated under one of those para-science subcategories of On The Fringe rather than sitting out here on its own to be misconceived as a bulletin board for offbeat recreational hobbies. 6a) = "Posts made as evidence for some sort of paranormal activity MUST have a theory/thesis on what is going on, backed by factual and determinable evidence. Failure to back the claim will result in the thread being shut down and cesspooled. Claims CAN be unusual/outrageous, but the more implausible the claim, the greater the burden of proof must be (extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence)..."[/b]
I don't have a factually based theory about how ghosts move objects or make noises or why they do. But then I don't have a theory on how many things occur, including consciousness, dark energy, the big bang, quantum entanglement, the origin of life, the pain in my back, etc. I guess we shouldn't discuss that stuff either.
Here's another XenFora-based board that has a paranormal, a sci-tech, and a philosophy forum (along with every other category under the sun): http://www.usmessageboard.com/forums/paranormal.124/ http://www.usmessageboard.com/forums/science-and-technology.52/ http://www.usmessageboard.com/forums/philosophy.125/ The above is also an active site rather than quasi-dead, like this inverted version of SciForums here that's predominantly paranormal with a sci-tech and a philosophy forum thrown in: http://forum.world-mysteries.com/forum.php Edit: USMB looks like it might be pretty unbridled, though, like the old wild-west agnostic_atheist club of alt.discuss before it finally got an owner / moderator [a Marshal Matt Dillon] again.
Whoa is right... the creationists / r#cists are running wild here in this sci-tech thread: http://www.usmessageboard.com/threads/the-first-white-man-is.382728/ Who knows, maybe the political stripes are actually alluding to whole site being undergirded by a fundie ...uh... fundamentalism stance rather than generic nationalism...
Ghosts creep me out... well... the ones warin sheets wit ponty hats... but i ant afrad of creationists... hell... i married a fundie Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
All I see is more ridiculous, pointless trolling that would have us believe ghosts are real. To the cesspool, please. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
