I did and still do, as you do, pay for the street, the landscaping, the traffic lights, and especially so the sidewalks. It is a contract, or it should be and ought to be, between government and the public, ergo taxes.....I work, my life and time are important to me. I place a very high value on my existence/time. I trade an amount of my effort for the goods that allow me to survive. A trade for an equal trade. So in specifics, I allowed for that seed to be planted. We both succeeded. ..... Responsible responsibility is not a burden, it is living a life of ones' own choice/avocation. Can one love a subject so much that he doesn't care for any thing else? Living life in a daily mode, with the mind continually working on questions. Always scribbling down new avenues and tangents with pencils that never run out of lead, and with pens that never go dry, for at least fifty years. The value of math as I see it is that there is qualitative and quantitative, each apart and yet also together. Math is the description of event and object, like color to an artist, and notes to a musician. Its like a shorthand which in a few words is made up of pages and pages of itself. Like that picture puzzle we all have in our heads and as one piece is found and added, the event of the puzzle becomes clearer and the puzzle itself becomes larger. As more pieces are demanded, it becomes more demanding to know and demanding to have it clear. With every 'clearing/seeing' new understandings are understood and common denominators are enacted and new knowledge develops. Which demands measurement...... I appreciate voluntary compulsion for any one that embraces it for their own study/understang's'. To know it from your own perspective, not someone elses'. One usually looks to see what others have done with a particular question, after you have arrived at your own conclusion. Asking the questions necessary for the next steps. It is not difficult to create your own math too describe your work. Descriptive analysis..... Past, present and future for everything, which in time with the greatness of the huge populations with all those brains working on the basics, newness will evolve.....

It takes cognition to create counting....... You are right AI does require an objective 'view'..... I am absolutely obsessed about the absolute need for oxygen. Is it not a 'universality'? In the absence of electromagnetic shields or some such device. Even if some craft could travel at or near light speed, unless the 'Space' in front of it up to its destination wasn't mapped and observable in real time so that the craft could take appropriate actions, wouldn't there be a very real danger that the craft would be utterly destroyed by crashing into even a tiny rock in its path? Actually isn't that a danger even with craft travelling at today's relatively slower speeds?

In a limited sense I agree. But in another sense, I highly doubt we will become an interstellar traveling civilization if we do not stop fighting each other here on earth and start cooperating over resources and technology. In order to build the massive space-faring ships we will need, it will require cooperation and pooling of resources on a planet-wide scale. It's just not going to happen on a planet divided up with national borders and suspicions. National divisions have to end and we need to function as one planet under one government if we're ever going to go anywhere..
