A while back I would have said a PS2 because the games were better. I own a PS2 and im so glad I bought it because I have got many years of enjoyment out of it. However, now that there are more games out for the Xbox and the games are finally taking advantage of the capabilities of the system, I'd buy an Xbox. My roommate has an Xbox so thats why I havent bought one. But if he didn't have one, I would buy one now.

    PS2

what about online gameing?X-Box makes you pay for the service PS2 doesnt. PS2 has at least 50% of the gaming platform market.Everything is cheaper too. PS2=299.00 X-Box=399.00
I have a PS2 and enjoy it theres also a broader game selection. I used to get Game Informer magazine and on their Top 20 Charts PS2 owned at least 75% of the votes several months in a row!!!! if you havent already guessed im a big ANTI-X-BOX person

You seem to feel the same way I do. PlayStation has more games and, depending on your likes and dislikes, better games. But I believe the XBox system itself is superior and has more potential for great games. And therein lies the problem: should I buy the system that has better games now or the one that may have better games in the future?

Like i said...I bought a PlayStation 2. But if i were to make the purchase now (which you are), I would buy an Xbox because the games out now and the ones coming out are REALLY REALLY good. When Halo 2 comes out...you wont be disappointed.

Though I haven't bought either, my friends have them so i've sort of had a taste of all the systems. X-Box is fun, but the games are limited. I find we only play Halo and Bloodwake. In Playstation 2 world, we play a lot of games, this variety is what I love. And although you did say X-Box has more games then it did originally, Sony has been in the business far longer then X-Box and likewise, has a broader selection of games. The games are even forwards compatable from PS1 to PS2, one of my favorite features. Along with that it is cheaper. I like Halo but it gets old, and the controllers unweidly, those giant things. I much prefer the tried and true playstation controller.

I could care less who makes the system. Who cares if microsoft of sony get your money? They are both gloated companies.

Go with the more advanced system with a longer shelf life. Get an xbox. I did and I dont regret it.

Dude..long shelf life???..in about two years all three systems will be on the verge of extinction since all three companies are already knee deep into working on the sequals of all three systems. Microsoft, Sony and Nintetendo are all into work on the follow up to their next gen systems. So in about 2 years details will start leaking and they will finally be shown to the public at E3..or atleast be officially anounced.

BTW How come nobody mentioned GameCube as a another choice...*ponders*...oh wait.. i know why because it isn't a good choice.

All three systems are fine...it all depends on the third party support, whoever has that wins and PS2 seems to be the darling among thrid party developers though X-Box is catching up and Gamecube is going down the same road as Nintendo 64.

Re: Re: PlayStation 2 or XBox?

Well normally I'd say no, except for the fact that I know they lose money on every X-box purchased. Their business plan has them getting that money back in game sales and licensing.

The Halo games are like, the only very good part about Xbox, and most of the other good games on Xbox are available on PS2. Plus PS2 has a ton of it's own good games.

Also, at least the PS2 comes with the DVD player, with the Xbox you have to buy a seperate thing to get DVD's to work.

I like the Xbox, but I prefer PS2.

The reason I am looking for a video game system is because my PC is slowly dying and I plan to replace it with an Apple MacIntosh.

The most affordable thing you could do is forget about both the PS2 and Xbox, buy a GameCube and a copy of Animal Crossing ad never play another game ever again.
