How alkaline is the surface of the earth ? Is the earth covered with much of calcium carbonate ?

Where are the expert geologists ?
Are the oceans acidic neutral or alkaline .
The question is to understand CO2 absorption by the sea and by mointains.

According to the article by Origin, the oceans are presently alkaline, but being acidified by the increase in carbonic acid. pH of 7 is 'neutral' (pure water); greater than 7 is alkaline, less than 7 is acidic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PH

Your site is great It shows the Ph is higher by the surface 8.1 and lower as the depth increases , that means the ocean is able to absorb CO2, the other thing is as temperature in the surface increase, the absorption will decrease.
Walter I agree with you, The ocean can absorb some more CO2
O posted that before but for some reason the post did not appear. but anyway I am glad for your post and the link of Origin
