I found this interesting article about anonymity online showing that today, half of internet users are concerned about the amount of their personal information that is available online, but only 37% percent of internet users actually believe that it’s possible to use the internet anonymously. Also, 86% of internet users have taken steps to mask their digital footprints. http://attentiv.com/anonymity-impossibility The question is are we really anonymous, or there are traces that could lead to real us?
The devil is in the details. You are anonymous online (no one knows who is on the computer that is connection), however your computer is known/recognised. (Choose who you affiliate with carefully, Mac or PC?) What people don't consider is that most of the internet now is proxied/cloudbased. That means the days of connecting between two random machines being missed is near gone, since the way a cloud system works is to maintain integrity through mirroring. Those mirrors are actually copies of the internet as a whole that a number of governments have agreed upon keeping maintained for longer than just an instance for the future prosperity of the internet should for some reason the internet suffers a cataclysmic failure, a couple of men located around the world can "reboot" the mirrors back into effect to try and repair some of the data loss. There is the added factor that those mirrors are used to hunt pieces of information down from the point something is of interest, which means over time through analysis using some of those vast super computers you hear about (and probably just assume only deal with particle acceleration data) will eventually allow a composite of a particular "nodes" activities. (I use the turn node to reference that your computer information makes up part of that node data) All in all, anonymity is only a concern for: those that are persecuted in countries that have appalling human rights records and concern themselves with their need for freedom of speech or otherwise. For those that are criminal to hide their crimes For those that are suffering from criminals targeting them. If you happen to be apart of the "Great Game" (Spycraft). What if we like to enjoy a level of anonymity because we want to remain anonymous? Generalizations are silly, don't make them.
Trying to think of a good response for this thread. My answer is no. I can't search amazon without related ads popping up wherever I go online. But it's even worse, as the below video suggests...
I am amazing there are people out there not utilizing adblock. I don't expect people to have the browser protections I have in place, but at least use adblock. It's common for malware to be delivered via ads.
You mean by the 15 post account that you've created to mask which poster you are (whatever iteration you are). I did purposely leave out trolls as I didn't really need to Generalise for an example to be made present on it's own. (Cheers for fulfilling that expectation, give yourself a cookie.)

In any event we are getting a little off-topic with our misconstrued notions of what our posting intentions were/are. Generalisations for the most part are actually an attempt to bridge a persons rationale with concepts that they might or might not fully understand, to put them forwards for open discussion isn't about being brazen it's about discovery of those considerations that were not covered. It is not meant as a stereotype of the only potentials in that respect but a way to gain a more well rounded understanding of the potential reasons to consider (as sometimes people neglect some of those reasons and automatically assume that say it's "Just to hide criminality" etc) (Hopefully this extinguishes any burning bridges we might have.)
I'm not an expert, but think if you used the same computer several times and ever give personnel data in it, no - the TPTB know all about you. I say this as on the rare occaions when I log on to any finacial site I use, with correct pass word but from a new compter, I am asked to prove I am me by answering at least one "secrete question"
