I am not upset & I see no reason to think anyone is.

The beginning is the 1st second or the 1st 100th of a second or whichever smallest measurement 1 is using.

This thread began with Post #1 which is the 1st post. The 1st page has 20 posts & ends with Post #20. Without Post #20, it could not have 20 posts. The 2nd page begins with Post #21 & ends with Post #40.
At this point, this thread has 303 posts & ends with Post #303.
Fortunately, there is no cardboard divider between pages.

We start at zero on the clock. Minutes accumulate until we have 23:59 minutes. Then the clock is reset to zero. They teach this to Ricky Recruit in boot camp.

The clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich runs from 0 to 23:59.

I find it odd that people think the day ends at 24:00 while also thinking the new century started in 2000.

Not that any of it really matters, it's all a manmade system.

I told my recruits that is was like the teeth on a saw. Start at the bottom, steady rise to 23:59, then vertical drop-off to 00:00. The ones that got it right got to knock off work at the regular time. Some needed extra time to ponder it. "You don't have to agree with the Chief, you just have to do the way the Chief tells you."

It was extremely rare that I saw 0 on a clock until digital display became fairly common. Most clocks used 12 hour time & had hour numbers 1 thru 12. 12 hour time mode worked fine ending with the number 12 yet some crackpot(s) decided 24 hour time mode should not end with the number 24. I did not hear of whether noon is the end of the morning or the beginning of the afternoon even 1% as much as the midnight thing.
The fact that a method or system is in place & you can force people under your power to use it does not mean it is good or sensible. I guess you could start each day at -04:00:01 & end with 20:00:00. You could pretend there are 25 hours in the day. There are many methods & systems in place which are not the best they could be.

You do not have to agree with logic & you do not have to be able to count.

But it's the best system available. I know you hate it, but you would argue with a postage stamp if nobody else was around.

It has been my experience that the vast majority of people who think 24 hours does not end with the number 24 also think 2000 years does not end with the year 2000, each of which is absurd.
Of course it matters whether things are done logicly.

There's nothing wrong with arguing with a postage stamp. If you lose, that might be worrisome.

11:59:59 then 00:00:00 The next day. Midday is when the Sun is at it's highest point. Midnight, furthest from.

Actually, it's a tax thing from prior empires.

Fruit was taxed as a luxury; vegetables weren't. Thus, tomatoes became vegetables. The Supreme Court settled the issue in Nix v. Hedden (1893) because someone wanted tomatoes to be a fruit again, because of a tariff.

It was a stupid decision; regardless of what we think about the fruit/vegetable question, Nix is one of the Court's more ridiculous accomplishments.

Would this be the origin of the word "nixing" something?

Nay; I'm told that's from the German, circa eighteenth century, a word for "nothing".

    It is tomorrow. 12:00:00.000000000000000000000000000001

We can't notice exactly midnight since it has no duration so by the time we understand that we have reached it, it is tomorrow.

It would be fun to have the date change at noon. Half a work day's documents in one date, etc. Merry chaos ensued!

Have you not yet recognized that you do not experience reality, but only history?

One of the best things about Jerry Seinfeld was that if you were smart enough, say, to have paid attention to anything remotely educational in high school, he wasn't funny.

There is a joke I can no longer remember the proper source of; that is to say, I don't remember if the bit about glue not sticking to the inside of the bottle was an actual Seinfeld joke or a Tiny Toons satire thereof, but it pretty much summed up everything wrong with his comedy after "Laundry Party" and "If Dogs Had Pockets".

I'll take reality as the fraction of a micro second ago history. Close enough and good enough for me
