I thought this was interesting: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/...snowman-revealed-scientists-analyse-yeti-dna/

It seems that an exhaustive analysis of samples from creatures thought to be the Abominable Snowman or Yeti are all from bears, of one sort or another.

Not that this will prevent people who want to believe in the yeti from doing so.

P.S. The article includes a rather funny picture of someone in a furry suit pretending to be Bigfoot. You can clearly see the slot for him to see out.

Sometimes bears walk upright when their front paws are injured.

Yeti there will remain true believers who know the science was wrong or faked.
My thanks for starting this thread.

"Aren’t you pleased science solved that pesky Yeti problem? That one’s been bugging me abominably for years. Sure they only genetically tested eight purported samples of Yeti detritus, and they turned out to be seven shiftless, poser bears and one dog with an identity crisis, but for god’s sakes have some faith in statistical power when it comes to small sample sizes. After all, the fact that a large portion of academic psychological literature out there is based on a sample of college students forced to participate for Psych 101 credit, doesn’t discredit the results in other populations. It doesn’t, does it? Pack your bags, Bigfoot and Sasquatch. They’re coming for you next, baby."----https://esoterx.com/2017/12/07/warndorfer-and-the-poltergeist-of-lerchenfelderstrasse-158/

I'll not disagree with MR on this. The debunking of the samples does not put the last nail in the coffin for Yeti.

It does remove one important aspect of possible evidence in favour, which makes it less plausible.

But unlike many other mysteries in this forum,
    - we are still discovering new species in remote corners of the world, and
    - this one requires only a small easing of our current understanding of the world. It requires no new science, mechanism or explanation than what we already have.

So I'll put it as orders of magnitude more possible than such things as UFOs and ghosts.

I'll let the Yeti-hunters keep looking for compelling evidence.
