    No, I don't think you can. You can edit your original post after someone has quoted it, but that won't change what the person has quoted.

    So if you could still go in and edit your opening post to a simple "hello", this post of mine won't be altered, and will still quote the same as I have quoted here (I.e. "I edited a post..." etc.)

    Look at first post, which I changed, compared to how it is quoted in the second post. I answered my own own question using this post as a test. The quote stays the same as the original post and does not change if the original post is edited.
