Switch to diet. You'll get used to the taste eventually.

I tried, its like coke without the happiness in it.

When I switch it will be to something like GFuel. That at least tastes nice.

Normal (?) tea. 5 roses, joko. Local brands.

Im not a fan of green tea. Dont mind Earl Grey, but it does taste a bit like pot porri.

    It'll grow on you.
Now I can't stand regular Coke. It tastes like liquid cookie dough.

if I remember correctly, that is a Ceylon tea mixed with black tea, but I think 5 roses also sells black tea.
I think Joko is a black tea (mostly)

it's similar to the common black tea used heavily in the American South for sweet tea, if I remember correctly.

    I know, right? LMFAO

I really know very little about the liquid I probably drink too much of.

Maybe it has to do with the amount I drink. I hate drinking water and I won't drink any hot liquids.
So, I go through two medium McDonalds in a day, and then at least another at night.
So that's (carry the 1...) 54oz. per day. (minus ice, so let's call it 40oz.)

    what about flavoured waters?
Try Nestle Splash waters. I hate water, but the grape (acai) taste similar to the kool-aid I had as a kid

The wife and I love them all, but I prefer the Grape whenever I can get it.
It's sweetened with sucralose, so it's not bad for you. I can provide sucralose studies if you like as I had to do research being diabetic.

I drink Coffee and Splash almost exclusively, with the occasional Iced tea at a restaurant that I'll put sucralose in.

Trust me - it would be far, far easier to mitigate the problem now by a subtle change of diet than wait till you become afflicted with diabetes. I caught it in the prediabetic range (at A1C 7.2) and dropped my A1C to 6.0 in less than a year with diet, sucralose and limiting certain carbs (bread, cakes, cookies).

Tried em. Much of my drinkage happens when I'm out, so Cola is far, far more readily avaialable, and I don't like having to work to get my drink of choice.

About 15 years too late for that. What do you think drove me to switch to sugar-free?

I do know the feeling. I've taken to purchasing large amounts each month and keeping a cooler in the truck with me.
Truly a bummer, bro. In all honesty and sincerity, I am sorry.
    I dislike my constraints immensely

We were told to consider the Dr Fuhrman diet book "The End of Diabetes: The Eat to Live Plan to Prevent and Reverse Diabetes" but I didn't think I could do the diet as I am primarily carnivorous. So the Nurse wife and I worked out a modified plan.

I won't say it's a cure-all because humans are so complex, but I will offer it as a potential solution that may help.

Disclaimer: Please talk to your doctor before enacting any dietary plans or exercise programs to assess the feasibility or mitigate the potential risks that may be involved.

    It's OK. I'm Type III.

It's the same as Type II but with the added element of denial. I eat whatever I want.

(All seriousness aside, it's under good control. Last checkup had my A1C around 6.5,which corresponds to an average BGL of around 7 - 7.5. Not good for a non-Diabetic, but great for a Diabetic.)

great, hell! that is actually fantastic for a diabetic being firmly in the pre-diabetic range!
most diabetics I know can't keep theirs below 7, even with meds.

Type II here, been on Metformin for a couple of decades. Doc says keep doing what I'm doing. I will, AFTER that German chocolate cake with coconut-caramel icing. Once a year.

The VA won't pay for that.

they may, depending on your rating and the need with consideration to various factors. Talk to your primary care provider and see if there is anything the VA can do. You may be able to argue a special consideration.

I get meds from the VA that the VA won't prescribe (Zomig to be specific).
