    The problem is similar to that of the mouse caught by the lion.
    The mouse should worry.
    The lion might not eat the mouse, but if it decided to, the mouse would have little say in the matter.

    I don’t worry about it really. I fear our own government more than I do aliens, tbh.

    If they're friendly and we do not protect ourselves, great.
    If they're friendly and we protect ourselves (needlessly), great.
    If they're hostile and we protect ourselves, great.
    If they're hostile and we do not protect ourselves, that's bad.

    So, the best action is to protect ourselves whether they are friendly or hostile. In other words, take action as if they are probably hostile.

    Should aliens exist, why are they so hesitant to make contact with us? They like hovering over us, but then they disappear...aliens are good at teasing.

    Sure, but what is that saying? "Prepare for the worst and be surprised if it becomes the best"

    I would not walk up to a unknown UFO looking to shake hands / tentacles without, hopefully, sufficient protective back up

    Me:::

    1. Eliminate sesual abuse.!!!
    2. Eliminate malnutrition.!!!

    I'm sure the Crime Directive will cover all eventualities when/if we meet.

    Hmm...I'd like to compare with aliens, how they treat one another. Are they kind? Do they have charities? Do they care about the environment? What DO they care about?

    We could meet at a local Starbucks, and have a good chat. :=}

    Appropriate name

    Wonder if they would appreciate having their hi tech space craft compared to a $1 piece of crockery?

    Sometimes, when emojis aren't a part of the standard set given on a forum, the additions don't show up, but yours do. I'll have to add some of my own...
