    Raccoons are frequently rabies carriers.

He probably has other raccoon family and friends. I am sure he must have been fascinated about you and checked you out to see if you were friendly and bearing food or not.

That is why I try to keep my distance from raccoons when I see them at night.

I moved away from him to the front yard and he came around also. He showed signs of having an appetite because as he was romping around me, he seemingly found bugs in the grass and ate them. When he went on the roof of the nearby house is when I quickly went into my house to get away.

There used to be more living spaces for company nearby, but they tore down an old house a few years ago, and this year an old wooden shed, both on different properties.

Raccoons are partly nocturnal so it does not surprise me that you saw one interested in you, because you were a human, or because it wanted food, at night. Raccoons are omnivores so they will eat many types of plants and animals, including bugs.

Been there done that. They are not good house pets. Almost impossible to train except for litter box. They are very good about using box or going out.

That's cause they are so much smarter than the average house cat, and not nearly as courteous....

A cat jumped out from near a bush, and my bike's front wheel almost ran over it the other day. It reminds me of how something, that looked like a cat, ran toward my bike a year or two ago and my pedal hit it on the head, scaring it away. It was nighttime both times.

The cat must have been in ambush mode.

I saw a dead raccoon run over on the nearby main street. I wonder if was the one trying to play with me several weeks ago. It might have sought some human company and wasn't paying attention to the car traffic

At first I thought the title of this thread was, "Are You A Drag Queen?" I think I might need my reading glasses.
