    I've never really promoted evolution as I'm not really bothered but I did find the connection between monkey and man unbelievable until I came back on these forums. Now I'm convinced.

    As one must be saved, society must be perfected.

    Do you think society is getting better or worse?

    Nothing involving human desire and well-being can achieve perfection - even in principle. The only way for society to be perfect is if we stopped having dreams and goals and stopped pursuing happiness. And that would be far from perfect.

    Better.

    Regardless of our subjective ideas of what's better and what's worse, there are some objective quantifiable metrics:
    1. we are living longer, healthier lives, with less preventable disease,
    2. we are better educated,
    3. we have more options (regardless of what the objective is, be it friends, love, solitude or leisure, we have incrementally more ways we can pursue those desires than ever before).

    How often do you go outside? What suburb you in? The Ghetto's?

    I am outside about 14 hours of the day.
    I live in the suburb of a mega-city.
    A single neighborhood outside one's window does not constitute "society".
    Poverty is not a modern thing. Most of the world was in poverty in the Dark Ages. That is, when they weren't dying of starvation, plague, dysentery or in-childbirth.

    Let me put it simpler: on average, the world's population lives longer, is better educated and has more options than at any previous time in history.

    That's what we call a straw man.

    The question wasn't: do we have a long way to go?;
    the question was are things better than they were?

    You cant have what you want, you can want what you have. If you asked me to stop creating would you stop learning? Or would you believe in those out of place things and find a way? Even in a singularity you can create a temporary universe to let the devil run its course.

    If time flies like an arrow, why do fruit flies like a banana?
