    mostly
it is not so much as they believe in not believing
they adhere to an ideology as a cult follower
they have the mind of cult followers

you will notice they all share standard religious base lines in Christianity
where they have been indoctrinated as children into a false sense of power & authority models
this has been subverted into a concept of religion.
so their ability to have faith and trust is proxy to a process of religious attachment.

it is leant up against the psyche from a position of lack of personal development
where the inner person feels something is missing

they simply swap this feeling of something missing for the religious indoctrination to fill the gap
be that climate change denial or denial of human rights etc...

you wont find any vegetarian or vegan climate change deniers
this is because vegetarianism and veganism adheres to human premise concepts of empathy
while religious indoctrination subverts human rights and empathy and installs genocide as an ideological acceptable process
be that against a single person or a group of people.

you see this being played out by American self acclaimed Christians who are anti Muslims and see muslims from a xenophobic position
the opposing religion is seen as a foreign invader to the self identity(this is not specific to any particular religion & is a typical effect of all religious indoctrination of children with corrupted power & control).
acceptance and common human empathy has been whipped out of them by the church or local culture.
    west borough baptist etc etc
    many examples

you must always remember that in the usa
power and authority is corrupted by greed
so all things are defined as driven by personal greed
    no money no play
this is what the religious ideology is based on as a moral absolute
conspiracy theorists are a product of this culture.
    corrupted power & control
lack of trust in a government that puts money before people
culture that puts profit before people
religion that drives invasive ideological white washing of small childrens minds

Not at all. Some simply believe FOX News, and are too ignorant to look outside of that source. Some feel their identity is tied to denial of a "liberal" issue. Some hate Al Gore, and find that the only way they can sustain their hate is to deny climate change. Some simply can't understand the issues at all.

When in doubt I fall back on Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

What has Fox news been saying about the climate crisis?

By now, they pretty much have to be. There is so much consensus in the scientific communities that in order to keep denying, you either have to reject science altogether, or cling to the notion that scientists are all being duped by a small cabal with a vested interest. (Oddly enough, the vested interest theory looks pretty thin when you compare the quantities of money dispersed over 97% of climate scientists to that spent on denial outlets and lobbies.)
PS Malice can always find ample hiding space behind stupidity.

What inspired this topic was the social media reaction ( some ) to this speech by Greta Thunderberg to the UN climate summit a few days ago.

A strong post that stood out was as follows ( spelling mistakes included):

"Does any one feel like me, a nurse in mental health, a great concern for the "manulation" of this "unwell" child"

Claiming that Greta was being manipulated and that she is mentally unwell.

Pure "poison" is how I would assess it...

Of course there are many posts to FB that are along similar lines but this spelt it out rather more clearly.
A Conspiracy theorists denial of the facts and the attempt to poison the credibility of any speaker that contradicts the conspiracy theorists point of view.

is not a mental health professional
they are a hack-domestic helper assisting a person with dementia.. probably an old folks home

their illusion of gretas sexual-identity and sense of individualism to have an opinion is a conflict to their personal sexual identity and gender bigotry.

how they choose to play that out as hate is just a different type of hate

they want her to be ignorant idle and chasing materialism to serve their own sexual satisfaction.

the correct term is psychological terrorism

I've always struggled with this one. Sure, stupidity--or ignorance--often seems the most likely scenario, but...

witness this exchange between John Kerry and Rep. John Massey (transcript below, for those who hate YouTube responses--though it's a good watch!)

So, is Massey simply an imbecile, or is he a mediocre--and malicious--bullshitter? I've zero doubt that there aren't tens of thousands of... people who viewed that clip, and saw Massey as the "winner" of the exchange.

Edit: Incidentally, Massey studied robotics at MIT, and so I am reasonably certain that he knows what political science is and why it is considered liberal arts.

Edit 2: I clicked edit above, I don't know why it posted as a response rather than an edit.

I wonder whether it's possible that the practice of evil causes one to lose IQ points over time....

"Climate change revision is the reformation of the new global warming cult. It's the religion of the Left."

"Climate freaks shut down traffic in Washington, D.C., on Monday. As this idiocy rolls on, we should note that people trying to go to work and put food on their tables don't hurt the environment. Creating endless blocks of idling cars and trucks does. Which is what that tantrum did."

    For a quick summary.

I doubt it. "Practice makes perfect" holds for all "skills".

Not necessarily all conspiracy theorists but universally pathetic.
How much f&cking evidence do they need?
Universally pathetic, universally devoid of capacity for reasonable (let alone critical) thinking.
    Universally maddening.
Oh yeah, and universally completely f$cking stupid.

Denialists always scream about their money. It's just selfishness as far as I'm concerned.

there is a subversive class group of people who gather like a troll club and target children and adults
    i have seen them before
i have been a member on several web sites where several of such groups gather and communicate
bully and harass and victimize people.

their swan song attacks are quite obvious to me after observing them for several years.

they are stuck in the mentality of the school yard bully schizophrenic
they usualy have 1 or 2 small children and they associate with narcissist sociopathic men
they are gender stereo typing as a form of self validation

in the usa they are a fairly common species
    no surprises really

imagine pauline hanson having an apprentice who is looking for a national front boyfriend(or a racist bully father figure to replace him) after being dumped by the father of her kids.
then imagine the type of men who psychologically align themselves with them to feed off the victimization process of other people that group attacks to feed their own ego & stereo types & hatred validation processes.

they think they are hiding behind placard type comments pretending to be reasonable people as they victimise and predate upon people who dont fit their stereo types or who they feel challenged by.

thier children are probably teenage mass shooter types

they will watch on as their children run into the road then try and attack the driver of the car who swerves to miss them blaming the driver
watch on as their kids attack and beat each other up and call it natural selection etc...

Man made climate change is the conspiracy.

The earth goes through a natural climate change process, always has, always will. The man made part is, man has contributed to the climate change by simply speeding up the inevitable.
