    I truly hope not

I truly believe that the bask had to fall in Iraq the treatment of the Kurds and sari required it. I wish that the Arab people had done it themselves. I believe that the money from the oil should go to building desalination plants that would turn the middle east back into the paradise that it should be. I believe that Israel should make the Palestinian people full citizens or give over the west bank no strings.

    with respect

I did not vote for seatbelt laws but I am still made to wear them I am still being ruled over. It is just enforcing what the outside majority says is immoral and moral. Democracy is tyranny for the majority. Either way you put it is still an outside power making the rules hence it is conquering. Whether it is immoral, amoral or moral you are still controlling them so it is conquering so it is an invasion.

You are controlling the leader threw a force of arms so yes you are.

Hey Socrates was voted to be executed democratically does that mean he executed himself?

So none to make sure that Sunni don’t get slaughter by the Shi’is?

If you want to continue to call me a child because you are having a hard time on sciforums or you are filled with angst fine ill just ignore it. If you think you can send in some helicopters and expect to get him out well remember somalia.

We could have bought the oil a lot cheaper then 70 billion friggin dollars.

That is the norm in most societies. However, note that Iraq had a voice in the UN GA where these rules are written. So your analogy is flawed.
That's the viewpoint of an eliteist.
    No it is not.
    No it is not.
Nope. You're serving a legal arrest warrant.
    1) Socrates technically did kill himself.
    2) Socrates didn't have a vote in the decision to execute himself. Iraq had a vote in the UN GA and a voice in the SC.
Again, your analogy and your reasoning are deeply flawed.
    Nope. None needed.
I refer to you as child due to your apparent lack of education and faculty of reason.
You want to compare a battlefield screwup caused by the length of the communication chain between the ground units and air units in the middle of a chaotic war to a single planned operation?
Yes, but you couldn't have paid for it in dollars as Saddam was selling oil for euros. A move, which if copied by the other OPEC members, would result in the dollar going into freefall and the US economy collapsing.
Add to that the strategic usefulness of a having bases in Iraq where noone will object to large build-ups of troops and material, and you can see why the invasion was on the books waiting for an excuse - which is what 9/11 was. Which is why 9/13 was the date the decision to invade was made. Which in turn means that the whole pre-war "diplomacy" was completely in bad faith and that the US lied from start to finish.

Which does bring about the question: Why do so many US citizens stil support the decision to invade Iraq, despite all the evidence that the whole thing was a neocon wet dream from start to finish?

There's no such thing as user friendly religion , religions are based on human intepertations motivated by various factors , you cant deifne a religion or the scriptures its based on as user friendly because of friendly users , oh well .....

    El SParks
That's the viewpoint of an eliteist.

Do you consider a third or even 49% an elite ?

Why do so many US citizens stil support the decision to invade Iraq, despite all the evidence that the whole thing was a neocon wet dream from start to finish?

reality-repression as a necesarry tool against psychological chaos . Its
    unbelieveble

The issue isn't what percentage of the population a minority has to be for to be considered an elite - especially since the definition of "elite" contains more than just the requirement that the group be a minority.
I consider his viewpoint to be eliteist because to refer to democratic rule as tyranny of the majority implies that the decisions of the majority are in some way invalid or incorrect, and that the person holding the viewpoint knows better, not through having more information, but through some inherent property in that person.

Pehaps this would go with Salty I dont know i cant speak for him , but I totally agree that democracy is tyranny of the majority . I understand you are correct indeed those percentages are irellevant

, thing is that you are as well but on different ground :

    See there are two thing
1)having information , as you mention
2)having the ability to logically proces this information .

Now with all the media Ill even give you the first , plenty peoples have info (not the majority though , and its not clear data either) , but on number 2 (something that is very relevant) they pretty much fail like never before .

So how about a new definition of democracy : Tyranny of the idiots . Is it elitist that they are idiots ? I dont consider facts to be anything , I could use it elitist , but thats irellevant to the fact that post peoples are total idiots . I cant change that fact , nomatter how un-elitist I might be .

The point is that elitism requires you to believe that the majority of the population are worth less than the elite. Since the majority are the ones that usually pay the cost of policy decisions, elitism is inherently morally wrong. It's the political equivalent of taxation without representation.

Im sorry but I really dont see how this would be morally wrong , you dont think the outcome of the policy has any relevance ?
If the outcome is positive for them , does it matter that they are paying the cost to it ?

Eventually you will give to elitism anywyas , because you choose an elite that represents you , that elite has obviously some elitaire qualities otherwise you might as well draw lotto-numbers , is it not ? And then within that system there is bureaucracy , something that causes even more elitism as even those elitists that you choose as a majority will have an elite that deals with matters , and thats not a democratically chosen elite , but depending on other factors .

American racism: "Don't leave home without it!"

EI Sparks posted: "Why do so many US citizens still support the decision to invade Iraq, despite all the evidence that the whole thing was a neocon wet dream from start to finish?

Abdulla: Because despite its immigrant roots, America is becoming more and more -- a very racist country. Interesting, huh, as the white race declines in America racism reaches a fever pitch! Today if you are a minority you can be deported for the most asinine reasons.

Example: You're immigrated from Guatamala and you're found guilty of domestic violence--you can be deported under the new right wing laws for "the little people" as Leona Hemsley, the NYC hotel (rhymes with "witch!") magnate used to say.

Example: You're immigrated from Mexico and at your kids party you swung wildly at the pinata and hit your Anglo guest on the side of the head--you are found guilty by the Jooish magistrate of aggravated assault - you can be deported!

However, if you've immigrated from Texas--and you go AWOL from the Taxas Nat'l guard and previously had been busted for possession and use of cocaine in college, ooops!

Your ole man, King George I puts in a phone call to superior court and you're off the hook in minutes and your records are destroyed by an accomodating judge.*

Example: You do some real low life insider trading and the ole man, King George I, makes another phone call and guess what--you just got off with only your wrist slapped.*

Note: Too bad Martha Stewert isn't ralated to King George I, huh guys?

Anywho, as the "browning of America" continues--look for more of these polorizing racists holloring "Down with affirmative action," "Screw Michigan State!" "Damned the CLU attorney's torpedo's, FULL STEAM ahead!"

So to answer your question about the US invading Iraq and not really caring if Saddam commited "any" crimes: lemmie just say that after WTC, American's would attack "any" Arab nation and not even care of there was sufficient reason to do so!

Except that it is necessary for you to believe that the elite do know better than everyone else, what is best for these other people. And I am afraid that the record on this is very poor.

Therefore, elites are still a problem, and laways will be. So we have rule by democracy instead, in order to prevent elites getting too full of themselves.
