But His Highness saved hundreds of thousands of lives by not allowing foreign nationals from China into the US. He essentially closed the front door on that nasty virus. Unfortunately he didn't bother securing the back door and the windows, which allowed the virus to enter the US by other paths.

Yes indeed..but how many things go across a leaders desk.
My call for battle stars to patrol the outter solar system goes without recognition or action.
My point is simply how many warnings are going over any leaders desk..if he acted on all warnings, which must be impossible, we would have bombing of probably 20 countries etc etc.
Now NASA warns of cosmic impact and they get a little more funding but when the comet hits it will be a surprise and of course each leader will be blamed for not taking the warning seriously.
What is disgusting about this sort of finger pointing it detracts from the issue..we have a problem...blaming folk doesn't help in fact it makes things worse.
In this country everyone and I include the opposition pulled together.
This hatred for Trump is tiresome...a man was elected not god.

Except that it was your statement there that was untrue.

I see you've revived this shit on the original thread for some reason - and that Write4U has responded. Well you two old gentlemen with dementia can enjoy debating with other, I suppose.

Let’s see, the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet has to decide which issue is more important, an urgent warning of a potential pandemic, or the current state of a vaping flavors ban. If only such a leader had the necessary divine wisdom to tackle such a dilemma.

I don't like him just to be clear.
My point is using this crisis to complain and to try and gain political capital is just so wrong.

You mean like Trump having his name put on all of the stimulus checks? Are we not required as citizens to hold our leaders accountable for their actions? And Trump not acknowledging his mistakes is not politically motivated? Trump has chosen the sword he wants to live and die by.

What do you think are the chances for another outbreak of another novel coronavirus in the next 3-10 years or so?

Further...none of what you say is going to help anyone but his political opponents...they could not accept being beaten and there is no end to their grizzling...get over it...use the crisis to help not promote your own political agenda...
And unless you have not realised I would be more left by far than anyone here but if I don't win the toss I don't sook for the rest of the game.

You all grizzle about Trump and yet the Democrats have not worked to prepare to take office from Trump by policy all they seem to do is grizzle from day one...he is the worst president well voting him out should be easy yet all are so hate filled the emotion prevents formulation of a real plan in my view. Heck if I was running the show I would keep all my ammunition until the days when it counted..lead up to election..the Dems are impotent Trump will win again by default.
It's an easy win if you were the least bit competent but all that we get is sook sook sook.
Heck you have so much and you blow it before you can see the whites of their eyes and the left shoots blanks come the election run..I mean you are inept.
I don't like it because he will win by default.

The Dems may be impotent but they certainly aren't responsible for 26,000 odd fatalities and a tanked economy due to Presidencial negligence.

Well consider how he may have reacted if he was not presumably preoccupied with having to devote so much time to fending off attacks, impeachment etc, and then think how it is.just like hearing cats to get good Christians, his side, to just do the right thing.
You are blind to the realities.

Really why wouldn't you save all the dirt until say September or October. I can tell you why because it's all emotion..not one thought as to securing a win..heck I am a mug but I could formulate a strategy that would cripple him at the right time..you know the time just before election ...all this sooking is just so childish it is lamentable.
And those who point to the deaths seem most happy with the high numbers because it hints at maybe a win...sorry that won't work either.

    The virus was already here.
    No.
Like being on call seventy hours a week to work twentyfive chosen by an algorithm without regard for sleeping or caring for children- and nowhere you can afford to leave your kid finding out when and how long you are going to be working a few hours before
That depends on the circumstances - in the US, sure: hence (partly) the lack of opportunity in the US.
There's a "sort of opportunity" on the table in that post? There's a claim that having a job always increases a person's opportunities, but that says nothing about the sort of opportunities involved (wisely), and is so flagrantly wrong anyway that it keeps flipping to read as a sendup.
Willful cluelessness is of course an option, one frequently adopted by rightwing folks trapped in one of their fantasies about how other people live - it's often an effective technique of personal attack, when honest argument isn't promising. But in the present context the troll-block is too ready to hand: if you knew what my world view was, you'd be able to paraphrase my posts.
    The troll flag unfurls.
(In case you really are that dumb: No.)
Willfully misunderstanding and misrepresenting posts like that is a particularly revealing way to troll.
It wasn't that complicated an idea. Living in a country with a history of chattel slavery and a gig/part time service economy whose lack of health care for the working poor is about to kill a few thousand of its citizens in a new way, one might assume a certain familiarity with the reality of the bad job - including its malign effects on opportunity in general.

    Clearly not a safe assumption.

That's the effect of this virus currently under discussion in my little crowd, btw: what it has showed the American people about the American people, their fellow citizens of a country ostensibly aspiring to representative government. And it's not all bad - but it sure isn't good. This virus is going to spread and afflict Americans as severely as it would a Second World "developing" country, largely because too many Americans live in a daydream in which their country is automatically functioning well and capable of doing what needs to be done.

You can't fix what you can't see is broken.
