Given the left is where we find compassion for humanity and a determination to have government play an active role in moderating the harshest aspects of a capitalist system I say definitely yes.

Yeh ..so Sculptor was right as the war was clearly all about tariffs which came to a head decades earlier...you need to read between the lines is all.

Some hold to a philosophy of never admitting they were wrong others when their error it shown make a sensible addmission ...have we enough cherries now to make humble pie for Sculptor to enjoy...or will he search for other cherries from his trees?

Should one never admit they were wrong? Some think that to make such an addmission is itself wrong. Never say sorry attitude. They say it takes a big man to say he has been wrong but I think it just takes a man , just a rational decent man.

The unfortunate thing with the war is these men who made the speeches being in a position of leadership did not advocate peace and took pride in their ability to raise emotions to have folk want war.
And all these folk who say they are Christian seem to never ask themselves " now what would Jesus say if he were here"

So often the case that Jesus is absent from Christianity.
A bit like having Buddhism with out the Buddha..
I do not believe Trump, a supposedly devout "Christian" has mentioned Jesus once in all of his rantings...

So a Christian he is not...
What religion is he devoted to then?
My guess is any religion that makes him self, Donald Trump, God.

he is a neo liberal catholic non practicing

but the conservative american Christians are indoctrinated to obey authority figures when they stand at the preaching station
ironically symbology is extremely important to them
    mixed with consumerism
its no wonder they have massive addiction issues

everything is oil or water & at the point of a gun lead by ranting lunatic preachers yelling like hitler

Is that honestly what you require of Christians, that they mention Jesus in their rants?? Is it not enough that one perhaps merely lives according to the teachings of Jesus, quietly, humbly, and justifying things not through "well Jesus said it!" or "Jesus would do this!" but through understanding why Jesus said it or would do it, and using that understanding in support of their rant? I'm not saying that that is what Trump does, or that he is even a Christian at all, but to simply conclude that he is not a Christian because he has not "mentioned Jesus once in all of his rantings..." seems rather a silly argument.

And it would have been unworthy of a rebuttal -- had it, in fact, been an argument.
I read it as a description.

The Confederacy was perfectly open about their reasons for seceding and starting the war. Their constitution is virtually identical to the Union one except the very first article enshrines slavery and forbids abolitionism. Once again, I'd love to see some videos or read some news about people waving around the Confederate flag while going after some KKK terrorists, or participating in a protest for black civil rights, or really doing anything whatsoever that somehow demonstrates a belief in and willingness to defend equal rights for everyone.

I don't care if there's one black guy out there somewhere who wants to dress up like a Confederate and stand in the streets waving a flag. There are more black people who believe they've been abducted by aliens than there are black people waving Confederate flags.

    of course not...
Normally this would be the case yes...
However when a leader uses and manipulates religions to serve a political end such as Trump often does, the lack of reference to the central themes of his own religion (the New Testament) and frequent use of the Old Testament with out reference to the upgrade offered by the New Testament says quite clearly to me that he is no Christian.
After all it is considered the New testament for a reason is it not?
When he deliberately struts to the front of a famous church , holds a bible in the air ( upside down btw) and has a photo op, after abusing protesters to get there and probably can not even spell the word "Christian" says much don't you think?

One such teaching he seems to completely ignore...

His behavior so far in office indicates there is no Christ in his version of Christianity IMO
His lack of humility, genuine apolitical compassion and his denial of human fallibility makes him a more Old testament kind of guy.

Like many so claimed Christians who attempt to use the bible as a source of justification for their decisions and choices, he fails to take on board the teachings of the Christ.
Discrimination, arrogance, hatred, division, denial of being a sinner (making mistakes) etc...God Complex-us much...
    IMO

If you look closely at the photo there are a number of things worth noting:
    • It could be photo-shopped. ( fake)
    • The man may have a gun at his back. ( coercion )
    • His family may be under threat - off camera
    • The man may be intoxicated and has no real idea of what he is doing.
    • The man may have been bribed to hold the flag. ( maybe offered basic health care or a roof over his head or some dental work - sarc)

He certainly doesn't look too happy about it does he?

Freedom doesn't require you do anything at all. But I can see why a fascist would have trouble understanding basic freedom.

More than one: https://www.google.com/search?q="black man" holding confederate flag&tbm=isch
    And as I posted earlier:
The Confederate flag is a controversial symbol for many Americans today. ... Among black Americans, 41% had a negative reaction, 10% had a positive reaction and 45% had no reaction. A similar poll taken in 2015 revealed little change from 2011.
    ...
75% of Southern whites described the flag as a symbol of pride. Conversely, 75% of Southern blacks said the flag symbolized racism.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moder...derate_battle_flag#Public_opinion_(2011-2017)
IOW, somewhere between 25-55% of all US blacks don't think it's racist, and at least 10% think it's a positive thing.
If you think more than 10% of blacks believe they've been abducted by aliens, try to find anything to back that up. You won't, because you're too invested in dismissing the independent thought of those black people.

    See my reply to CptBork^.

That you're so eager to find any explanation, other than allowing that black people can have just as diverse of beliefs as white people, would seem to indicate your own racism. And I don't see anyone looking especially happy in that photo.

    1) Bullshit.
    2) And irrelevant.
It's racist regardless of what some ignorant minority of black people think of it. (You do understand that many black people are is ignorant and bigoted as the many white people who wave Confederate flags, right?)

Your argument here is bizarre - if you found a black person who thought the earth was flat, would you post their picture as evidence of a flat earth?

Confused may be a better way of describing his expressions.
Out of curiosity I searched for free online image testing and found that the image in question is indeed a potential fake, that was manufactured in photo editing software.

    Possible Image Sources
Based on the pixels, this image could have been created with:

    software: IJG Library

    software: GIMP

    software: IrfanView

    software: idImager

    software: FastStone Image Viewer

    software: NeatImage

    software: Paint.NET

    software: Photomatix

    software: XnView

    The results are from:
    http://imageedited.com/

However enhancing an image and actually faking an image are not determined.
If I get the time I will continue to see if I can find other online resources.

Don't you find it counter intuitive that a person of any race, would endorse his own oppression voluntarily?

    Consider this.

You go to a party and you wear a t shirt with a picture of a huge penis on the front with the words Fuck you, a similar percentage to those seeing the confederate flag as racist see your t shirt as offensive...what would you say to those who find the t shirt offensive or would you just point to the words on your t shirt?

    and
the flag that people seem to want to show as an identifier of their desire to be a rebel
was never the flag of the confederacy.

more closely, it resembles a flag created for a creole General Pierre Gustav Toutant Beauregard
then used as the battle flag of the army of tennessee, then adopted by many other units as their battle flag.

    it ain't a racist thing
    it's a statement of a rebel mindset
    ...............................................
it's only a racist thing for racists
    don't be one

That's like saying the Swastika is just a Hindu symbol, white nationalists merely use it to show their appreciation of foreign cultures who stay on their own side of the ocean.
