If we have full dive VR would there still be people living in real life apart from poeple who maintain the VR equipment ? I am referring to VR brain implants,BCIs or a VR chip connected to a central Ai computer not VR headsets, googles, etc? I am asking hypothetically since i know that full dive VR is still a while away

If you were to give a rough estimate what percentage of people would stay in the real world instead of using these devices? 30 Percent maybe

Yes. Similar predictions were made for TV. Didn't happen then either.

Full dive VR doesn't empty your bladder, or fill your belly, so no one will be in there for longer than a few hours at a time.

Larry Niven explores this in his sci-fi novels with his "wireheads". Never mind an immersive experience, it bypasses all of that and goes directly to your pleasure centre. Essentially, a continuous low-ley orgasm.

Just like anything, some people get addicted, some don't. It's a self-correcting problem. Those that are prone to addiction stop breeding (often by dying due to malnutrition), leaving non-addictive types to breed. Eventually the addictive genetic traits get bred out of the population. (Niven is big on nature over nurture.) and a new equilibrium of users/non-users is achieved.

Finally, there will always be a component of the population that is counter-fad. Once anything gets popular enough, a grass-roots movement inevitably arises that eschews the fad completely.

There are so many things which can cause humans to become extinct, natural selection being one of them.

But think about it. We are all going to die one day anyway and there is nothing we can do about it.

This world we live in can be way too cruel, harsh and bleak so if you really think of the way the world is, will human extinction necessarily be a bad thing?

I think we live in a Lovecraftian universe where everything dies in the end.

Posthumans will be able to do both simultaneously. Experience "life" in the games of inner space while their (zombie) drudge alter-egos maintain the technology and multiply it and themselves across outer space. At the higher-end of the toposophic scale, one would be an infomorph or distributed intelligence, anyway -- not literally confined to and identity-locked with a particular synthetic surrogate body slash robot.

The drudges -- like worker ants -- are narrow in curiosity and devoted to their tasks. Thus the lack of interest in contact with the SETI stage communications of civilizations still in a meat stage or whatever pre-engineered packages their founders evolved in.

excellent question about human psychology & behavior

    however... da da daaaaaa....
guess whats involved driving the public information(and social culture and social rules of behavior normalization) ... ?
    HUGE money

soo... in-spite of people wanting to do less physical activity and all the terrible illnesses and diseases that would cause.
the world makes money from people moving around

    what would people eat ?
they would eat liquid through a straw that the VR would simply create taste of what ever they chose
the global food industry would be gone in a year or 2 and replaced with canning factory produced liquid protein stuff which would taste like raw chicken blood smells

it would probably be whole chicken puree with some vegetables thrown in with some added vitamins and all raw or slightly microwave cooked with some uv light sterilization maybe

imagine the only food you have is whole puree Raw chicken in a plastic bag to drink through a straw

what is the current global driver rule of social economics ?
    profit
so there would be only 1 company that owned all the raw puree chicken in a bag that everyone relied on for food
market competition in the food industry would be gone

    or ...
are you suggesting to suit your pre determined reality compliance model...

some type of sudden change in global 1st world psychological character ?
(if so describe the morality & ethics of that compulsory new reality of human psychology & social culture)

When you think about it, human extinction would actually not be so bad for the world.

I think humans deserve to go extinct eventually and that's because humans are so selfish, egoistic and some are even cruel and sadistic.

We let some people become so wealthy at the expense of millions of poor people in Africa who live on less than 2 dollars a day (these poor people have virtually nothing) while the wealthiest person on Earth owns 200 billion dollars in networth.

Human selfishness and greed knows no limits and is the cause of so much misery and suffering for others.

    So lets face it:

Humans are a shitty species and we deserve what's coming to us eventually because of our greed and selfishness and that's EXTINCTION.

The only thing humans deserve is no better than to become extinct and be replaced by a better, more moral, more friendly and less selfish and less sadistic species.

    Humans greed is never ending.

Every single one of us need to die.

This world will survive just fine without us.

We just saying to ourselves that this world needs us and that is to give us permission to take everything (and also to destroy).

But the sad truth is we are all digging our own graves and we taking every living thing with us.
Sad but that it is the truth. If we want to save this world (from ourselves) we must die.

Humans are the only species that can't live in harmony with nature.

Our science has been able to keep nature down, But it's getting to the point where nature will win eventually.

And guess what: Our science won't be able to save us this time and our intelligence won't be able to save us either. The most it will be able to do is slow down the parasite natural extinction.

The only way for mankind to live is to live within the limits of nature. But human stupidity and greed won't allow us to go back to those good old days. As human nature is only meant to take and destroy.

You may not have liked what I wrote but think about it:

The human greed of the ultra-rich and powerful is causing tons of suffering and grief to millions of people on this planet who currently live on 2 dollars per day, especially to sub-Saharan African children who live on almost nothing.

If you don't think that something should be done about the current destructive and abusive behavior of the ultra-rich and powerful then just admit that you are simply not a very good person.

Human greed is like a cancer, destroying everything it touches and on this I'm not kidding.
