    Are you being serious???
You think adultery is the fundamental basis of rape???
You think two people consenting to sexual intercourse is the fundamental basis of rape, which is where (at least) one of the two does NOT consent?

You seriously think if you marry and "follow the rules" then there is no chance of rape???
Or do you really, honestly, truthfully, think that a rule such as "a man must love his wife more than his own body" (the rule you gave previously) is sufficient for rape not to occur in that marriage?
Maybe you stated other "rules" but if you did, I can't find them in your posts, so perhaps you could post them again, or at least link to your posts where they were stated?

So I ask a similar question to the one I posed before (that you didn't answer): are your outdated ideas in this regard also due to your religious upbringing, or despite it?

Why do you think people commit adultery?
If you accept and abide by the real principle of marriage, no. There is no chance of rape.
What is outdated about marrying, and doing right by each other?

Rape is about dominating someone through sex. It’s about power. There’s nothing consensual about it. Being married or in a relationship doesn’t “cure” a rapist.

I feel like we (this forum) touch on this subject at least once per year, and the same misconceptions exist.

    Because people like sex.
If one of those principles is "don't rape your partner" then I agree. And if people accept and abide by secular laws against rape, there is no chance of rape either. But that's a somewhat circular argument too.

What is “being married” these days?

Why aren’t they satisfied with their wife?
Secular law works if the rapist gets caught, and as long as the rapist is locked away, in a way that there is no chance of raping anybody.

Look at Jimmy Saville, he was raping and molesting for years, and it was common knowledge to those that knew him, and the police. But they couldn’t touch him until he died.

Letting rapists and murderers out of jail, after doing a small portion of their sentence only to go out and rape and murder again, is mind-boggling.

But if you respect the fact that you are married, and love your spouse, you can cure yourself of urges and unwanted desires if you choose to. Don’t you think?
I mean people give all kinds of addictions, and bad habits everyday, by putting their focus elsewhere, until they begin to see the nastiness of what they used to do, desire to do. At which point the very idea of it becomes truly repugnant.

I don't know. Why do some people use religion as an excuse to rape and murder?
Nope. Secular laws works if they are obeyed. If you obey the law you will not rape anyone.

I'd say the crime of rape is driven by more than an ''urge'' or an itch that needs to be scratched. It's a crime motivated by the desire to over power and dominate ...essentially abuse another person through violating them sexually. Rape isn't really thought of as motivated by lust. It has always struck me as a crime of entitlement for some men - they're perhaps rejected by women and that leads to revenge through rape. I don't think you're wrong to believe that a person who commits crimes can overcome their problems, but it's not as simple as giving up a ''bad habit.''

Because they don’t believe in God.
If a “secular” law states that it is wrong to rape and murder, how is that law not derived from Gods Law?
IOW what makes that law any different?

I see your point, because we see celebrities who have women clamouring to have sex with them, yet some will still rape.
Men who rape their own children, even while they are babies, what to speak of other people’s children. Men who rape their mothers.
    I don’t get it.
But if there is something to stop them, it has to be more than the threat of punishment.
It has to come from them-self.
Marriage itself is not a cure, but to respect the real purpose of marriage may hold back the urge to rape, long enough to become embarrassed. This could bring about remorse and guilt, and restoration of conscience.

I like that he recognises we are not our bodies.
That is the beginning of spiritual understanding, and should be the first thing taught in religion.
