Yes. The obvious concern that is not often discussed out loud is that the virus may mutate beyond the capacity for the current vaccines to be effective. This would render the current investment in vaccines futile. That involves an awful lot of money, effort and hope. It would also mean that lock downs, border closures will continue until people learn to exercise a bit of self restraint and responsibility.
I honestly do not have any real idea what the chances are of such a nightmare eventuating...and can only hope that it wont but if it does then I will be even more grateful to be living in Australia.

    speculative theoretical strategic thinking
    south east Asia
superstitious & lots of anti-vaxers and lots of small village like isolated groups which will make vaccination problematic if they then go on to incubate a worse strain that is vaccine resistant then spread that.
it may be better for them not to be vaccinated(for a year or 2) if that is a real possibility.

    ====
The situation in Brazil and India are of particular concern as case numbers and deaths soar as hospitals become overwhelmed. Shortages of sedatives for ICU patients and supp. oxygen are of major concern.
The international media is constantly reporting on the dire situation involving these two nations in particular.
    ====
Vaccine rollout across the globe has been somewhat problematic, patchy but slowly getting there, however issues regarding efficacy, effectiveness, side effects (blood clots), public acceptance and numerous viral mutations have threatened the program.
    ====
The longer term effects of this virus are only now starting to be studied in those who managed to survive it and the news so far has been rather disturbing.
The issues of post virus long term damage, disability are yet to be addressed.

    Opinion:
Ironically one could suggest that the primary cause of infection and subsequent death is denial, complacency, inadequate leadership, rebellion against necessarily oppressive restrictions on movement and essentially people being irresponsible.

Nations such as Taiwan provide a good example of how the community's response to the pandemic can be incredibly effective in minimizing the outcome. With less than 20 attributed covid fatalities and no lock down of the economy and ongoing trade and close proximity to the primary source ( China), Taiwan has performed a veritable miracle. IMO

    lol
uber wiped out taxi careers and job security
while the world was playing word games with "economic security"
    just like amazon is

it was and is market de-stabilization
to allow taxi drivers to be sacked at will when ever they liked

but it was hidden behind a technology app

so industry job protection was sacrificed in exchange for re-distribution of capital investment into company structures
forcing outsourcing of asset cost on to new employees as independent contractors

its like asking people how much they hate their current bank
do they wish they had the freedom to choose something that suited them instead of them having to be told what to do all the time

then building 1 single bank to own everything via a cell phone banking app
and calling it a free democratic market

    lol

    Covid19 is changing global financing

has probably cost the global working class people around 7 trillion dollars minimum

    so they deserve free vaccines
paid for by their trillions in taxes

my feeling is its only time before it is pulled completely
because the existing better ones are better
& wont cost the companys to be sued

but if you move that AstraZeneca vaccine into a country that does not have the contraceptive pill
or other mainstream widely distributed medications like anti-depressants and blood thinners & pain killers & high saturated fats etc
it may not be tracked to such a high degree so the kill rate of 2 per million will become insignificant below the kill rate of malnourishment and other such issues

could be virus free by now
if its borders had been controlled
it could be the lynch pin global business office for china businesses
to operate covid free with the rest of the world

    India:
As the situation in India continues to seriously deteriorate it is worth nothing that with reasonably equipped hospital system that is not over whelmed the CFR is close to 2%-4% so if we extrapolate to the recent India new case numbers, the not too distant death toll for yesterdays new case load (332,503*) will be around 6,650 (2%) to 13,300 (4%) possibly spread over a few days statistics...

If the hospital system becomes overwhelmed and essentials like oxygen and sedatives are exhausted then the death toll would be expected to be considerably greater as more people, that would have ordinarily survived with a functioning hospital system available, will perish instead.
In other words once a thresh hold of medical support is exceeded the CFR will be considerably more than about 2-4%. The high density living circumstances in India could lead to catastrophic outcomes.

One can see from the above graph that the gap between cases and recoveries has been dramatically increasing since around 10/March/2021 and if the trend continues one of the greatest concerns of the world nations ( medical system overwhelmed) will be demonstrated and why comprehensive lock downs and movement restrictions were and still are necessary.

To further lend credibility to the above dire predictions are the media reports of mass cremations carried out in the street and parking lots of the capital New Delhi and elsewhere.

(*) as always keep in mind the real possibility of significant under reporting and a lack of testing.

    they messed up the audio
who ever the audio compiler/producer is probably needs to get a hearing test

you tube is not 4 channel surround sound

    panda dogs
    PogDa's

would easily be the most popular pet ever

I think the possibility of this pandemic stretching well beyond the preconceptions we all have about pandemic time duration is quite confronting... true...conditioned to believe it will be all over soon (3 years tops - flu pandemic 1918)

Especially when considering the very real possibility of climate change issues converging with coronaviral issues simultaneously.
It seems we are all in for one hell of a ride......

    edit:
    sounded and played great here...

    technically
    what they have done
is the editor who has created the track
has put in music into their own deaf zone of frequency
additionally they have supplanted their own emotional character into it.

if you have multi channel audio and surround sound as all professional edit suites do
then the voice is a lot clearer

the hearing becomes frequency selective & deaf zones are subconsciously pandered to
    additionally emotional characters

there is an emotive american emotional characterization which is a projected emotional profile
often used by certain media producers

they have swung around this and also their own audio issues

    i find it annoying
    love pbs fyi
to me its the difference between being 5 star good
    and 4 star slightly annoying
    an easy thing to fix
but it has heavy cultural toning in it which many seek to acclimatize to for familiarizations
those familiarizations are important culture inclusivity

modern consumer culture and the hard fast drive for increased learning to technology
drives a certain item of perception
that item is easily swapped out for ignoring long term effect
and concentrating on short term gains
it has several human behavior attachments
greed tyranny trauma ... many things give it weight

look at american mainstream white culture
they believe they are not accountable for an need to make allowances for the massive amount of american slavery and genocide against african americans and native american indians

they claim everything is equal right now
so no one deserves any more than what they already have
and that power systems and everything else should not be changed
they have been brain washed by cold war propoganda to believe that negotiating a compromise in inherently communist.

Is our medical science not advanced enough to fight virus?

I think given enough time we are advanced enough however it is people that require the advancement.
"Wack a Mole" is the only game in town until there is global consensus in our approach.

and not a mask in sight!
I would suggest that these images are archive images of another time perhaps.

Did a quick search of election images and found a mixed bag of past and current images.
Checked video uploaded and found as an example:

You'll notice in the above that police are wearing masks and attempting to enforce some sort of social distancing.

Why a tiny virus caused so much trouble, where are our scientists who boast can change the world to be better?
