You mean I THOUGHT I was enlightened but I was fooling myself

Like I was tickling myself but fooled myself someone else was doing it so I laughed and tried to get away from myself???

No I am sure I was enlightened. The only puzzlement, for me, why do others call reality enlightenment

Pleasure is the secret of enlightenment. It’s impossible to be happy without a certain level of enlightenment.

Enlightenment is clarity of thought and that state can only be attained when the mind is not cluttered with trivia.

Meditation facilitates the attainment of mental "stillness" and "clarity" of thought.

I think meditation could help calm the mind a little, which might affect our physiology as well as emotional well-being. Typically speaking, it has some benefit, but I'm unaware of the monetary aspects of "selling the practice ". That's a new one on me. Hiking the trails is nice but can be physically demanding. Sitting under a shade tree after a long hike has similar benefits as meditation. You know, leaning back, kicking your feet up, and breathing in the clean air of the forest is rewarding both mentally and physically, particularly after a long hike. Better still is a drink of cool clean fresh water while out there. I don't pay for these things. I don't pay to meditate and I have no idea what enlightenment is, unless it alludes to coming to an understanding about a thing.

It seems to me that anything which has a monetary penalty would break "clarity of thought"

Amusement parks are nice, and nightclubs, but oh ... Concerts and horse races. I'm from ky. You're right though. Meditation and paying for enlightenment has a bitter sounding taste to it. Education on the other hand ... Umm ... Well yeah.
