Perhaps we should let the issue lie. I really didn't mean to let things get personal, and I'm not here to make any enemies. Should we just agree to disagree?
I have been thinking about the same thing as this is not gonna get resolved here. I say we take this outside, slingshots at ten paces

The whole idea of being in a category is a joke. Let go of your useless thoughts of self and be free.
ah I myself do not define myself as goth (i see it as pointless but thats another topic) but I have seen sooooooo many ppl talk about this so I felt the need post some thing I posted another site. I dont plan to come back here so to contact me please email me. Also i think there are many types of goths such as glitter goths and vistorian goths an no "one" goth type. Also I am not saying all ppl who shop from stores like "hot topic" are bad mostly if they really like it. (which is way cooler then wearing what some ppl think is goth or whatever) also I agree very much with hulac and I am just talking to the people who are upset about punk an goth fashion being in mainstream stores and if I sound werird or sound like I dont know what I am talking about then let me say I am 15 an werird and I love it baby! lol. here is the article. Goth And Punk Being Ripped Off In Mainstream Stores This is a rant I have about Goth and Punk being ripped off in mainstream stores that I felt I just had to get out. If you think this article is to long then feel free to just skim it and please excuse spelling errors. As many of you may have seen many stores are selling their own sort of Goth and Punk clothes for mainstream people to buy. I have seen many people ranting on internet message boards and such who consider them self to be into Goth or Punk fashions who are upset about this. I myself have this view. That is BIG SURPRISE! lol. I mean were people upset when hippie fashion got into mainstream stores? I mean being hippie had been about making the world such a better place and about peace yet now the kind of clothes they were known for was being sold to people who would kick a dog if it got in their way and fight over hairspray! I mean any time some thing is cool and underground (like alot of the Goth and Punk clothes that were made by hand)alot of older (people in their 30's and 40's)who are in charge of finding the next hip fashion for teens decide to take the basic ideas of them and have them made by people in 3rd world places and sell them to preps. It happens but just like the disco clothes of the 70's they soon fade away. I can understand people who make their own punk or goth clothes being upset but this happens and soon it will be gone so I say keep wearing your hand made clothes and know that soon the fashion will be gone and also keep in mind that alot of people can tell the diff between the real thing and the fake stuff. I think people shouldnt blame the teenies who wear them but know that they are just wearing what people have told them is in. I have a cousin who is only 11 yet is talking about "becoming" skater punk. Teens (and pre teens)are ofton misled and also alot of teens (and pre teens) feel the need to fit into a group even though trying to make your self a label (yes I did use the terms goth and punk when I refered to fashion but not people) is some times silly and so if they like a couple of punk bands or whatever they try to dress and be a 100% punk so they can have that label and feel they fit in (oddly enough alot of prepy dressed people dress prep for the same reason)it does not always make them bad people just teens who feel the need to have a term to make them self feel more sercure. Also in closing I would like to add that I am not saying that you are a poser or whatever if you dont make your clothes I am just writing this for all the people who have ranted about it to let them know it will go away.
most of my frinds don't "label" themselves as something even though you can tell they consider themselfs goth. But rather someone will label them and they will just agree.
I'm me. Some people call me goth. Some people call me a poser. Some people call me Dale. But in the end I'm just me.
Thought the "gothic" culture has been dead for centuries now. LMAOPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Oh yea, the subculture, I mean trend, ah fuck it. who cares? Whatever floats your boat.
Re: Goths Says Adam Oh cripes yes. Like the Notre Dame or Strasbourg cathedral in France, I'd agree the only thing productive to come from this pesky word 'gothic' was architecture. I firmly believe that if you have to go out of your way to finger, point it out, or label it you're not it. Say it or name it and you've lost it. I feel if you in fact are strikingly different and thus interesting, then its up to me to find out and NOT for you to tell me. Arrogance self-imposed means you're arrogant, not inherently stoic. The self-imposed gothicism/paganism that we're seeing circulating nowadays in the nu-metal mainstream is trendy posing that I hope will die out in the next 2 years or so. I can't STAND goths, perhaps the loudest phonies (sp?) on this planet. And by the way, the loudest and phoniest of all are the fat ones. :: cringes :: If your face is is caked in plaster and black liner, that doesn't make you artfully different either. It makes you a panda. Says wickavamp Holy mother, wickavamp, that's some noisy bullshit! Five bucks says you're a wicca, grave-hop, and read Rice novels (where's my cinco?) Says Oana Good point. I do in fact consider myself a bit hippie-like know, but you'd neer know it through my clothes, click, or vernacular. I was a bit upset at how retailers were marring the boheamian concept.
