That was me. The thread is no longer about Putin amassing his army at the borders of Ukraine, so I changed the title to more accurately reflect what the discussion is about.

I usually have a pretty good intuition about these things. I see a distinct possibility of a nuclear war.

Putin is like Trump in this respect. He will never admit defeat and if he is to go down, he will take a good part of mankind with him.

IMO, the world is facing an existential crisis.

I also think this backfires on Putin in that eventually the European NATO nations will strengthen their defenses, more nations will apply to join NATO and the EU, after this is over Ukraine will strengthen their defense even more and Russia will just have to accept having stronger neighbors.

The real problem is that Putin doesn't want to have a Ukraine full of "Russians" that are having a much better life than the Russians in Russia. It's was a bad look when West Germany was doing much better than East Germany. It's the same with South Korea vs North Korea and at least until recently Taiwan vs Mao's China and now it's Ukraine vs Russia.

It's time for Putin to accept reality. Russia is a 3rd world economically except that all revenue goes toward the military (and the Oligarchs).

Valery Abisalovich Gergiev fired by the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra for refusing to denounce his friend.
    Woke enough for you?
Or should we use his toothpick to poke him in the eye? chain him to a tree and emasculate and eviscerate him ?
Oh yeh, and cut out his tongue because that tongue was not used to denounce his friend.

McCarthyism shines brightly in the minds of bigots, and maybe, always will.

Shades of Sir Thomas More who spoke no evil, and was beheaded none the less ?

    ''spoke no evil'' ?
You do know he burnt people, heretics.
In one of Thomas More's books you have him saying of heretics, ''kept but for the fire first here and after in hell”, unless “they repent and call for grace, that may graft them into the stock again”

And talking of Thomas More and Thomas Cromwell the historian David Starkey said
    My bold above.

Vladimir Putin told his French counterpart on Monday that the demilitarization of Ukraine and Western recognition of Russian sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula were prerequisites to ending fighting in Ukraine, the Kremlin said.

"Vladimir Putin stressed that a settlement is possible only if Russia's legitimate security interests are unconditionally taken into account, including the recognition of Russian sovereignty over Crimea, the demilitarization and denazification of the Ukrainian state and ensuring its neutral status,"

    Reasonable?
    Why ain't this happening?

Same reason the Russian peace keepers aren't happening...Trust is a big issue here. Russia expects Ukraine to disarm and unconditionally surrender yet offers no reason to trust them.

Trust is a hard thing to gain and an easy thing to lose.
It may take a generation or 2 before Russia and Ukraine can trust each other.

    So, there you have it?
    Is a cure even possible?

No worry mate,no one will use nukes.
It would be end of the world and Putin isnt crazy no matter what western msm want you to think.
Russia is self suficient in all natural resources,it has no need to invade any western country.

Russia didnt start this war btw
Ukraine did 8 years ago when US instaled Zelensky puppet gov. Who murdered 14.000 Russians during his rule and also destroyed Ukraine economy while enriching western imperialists.
Its same strategy CIA used in many other countries.

Russia will demilitarize Ukraine and war will end

Heres one american living in Kiev w logical explanation of what goes on there

It's ridiculous for any country to insist that another country "demilitarize". As they say "you go first". Russia isn't demilitarizing so why would a smaller country on its border ever do that? That would be stupid.

As far as being a "peace keeping" mission, again, how stupid do you think the Ukrainians are? As you can see, the Ukrainians aren't welcoming the Russians with open arms. Stay out of the Ukraine and there will be (and was) peace.

    Holy shit.

And let me guess. The Jews brought the Holocaust on themselves with their unreasonable demands.

And what if Russia annexes Ukraine? Just walk in, kill a bunch of people, and take over a country?

Suppose your neighbor is abusive to his dog. You like dogs so you just go to his house kill him, his wife and kids and take his house?
You see that as a solution?

btw. here is a little bit of history.
