    Financial support is direct support.
    Offering pardons is direct support.

Interviewer: There are hundreds of people who have been dragged through hell and some are still locked up in the DC Gitmo. I am sickened sir. How do we right this wrong, what can you do?

Trump: So I met with a number of times . . but I met with . . .I am financially supporting people that are incredible and they were in my office actually two days ago, so they’re very much in my mind. It’s a disgrace what they’ve done to them. What they’ve done to these people is disgraceful.

Also Trump on the same show: I will look very very favorably about . . . about full pardons.

Yeah, these clips and the way they've been stated are nearly incomprehensible as stated. It seems that after 4 years in office, another 4 years out of office, and the very notion that Trump has plans to run for office again, that all these allegations as you are suggesting they be applied are nonsense.

OK. It's just how the guy talks.
They're not allegations. They are his own words. And he has said similar things many times.

I hear Senator Joe Manchin might run for the Presidency as an Independant. I think that's who you voters should vote for.

I see you, asked for evidence of direct support and when you are given it you dismiss it. That is known as arguing in bad faith. In other words it is pointless to discuss this with you since you are not being honest.

If these allegations are true, who in their right mind would be supportive of Trump serving another four years as president? He's running again apparently, so either they have been proven false as applied, or people are too misinformed to dismiss Trump as a valid presidential candidate. I'd suggest the former is more likely and the latter an offensive insinuation to a very large demographic.

About 40% of the US. It is not his character they are voting for; it is his hatred for the people they perceive as their enemies. (i.e. the greedy violent blacks taking over the government, the liberals who are forcing sex change operations on 2 year olds, the drag queens grooming their kids to be gay.) A large part of this is white backlash, a phenomenon we have seen dozens of times here in the US when black people (or other minorities) gain more rights and are resented for it. Trump capitalized on this backlash in the wake of Obama's presidency. One study described Trump as a "lightning rod for animus" which was a good way to describe it. The study's author said that they discovered "that what he did was serve as a place where people who already held a lot of animus towards marginalized groups, they all sort of gathered around him. So this was a latent faction of Americans that had just - that had already been sitting there and had already existed. It's not necessarily that it's the Republican Party that is creating animus towards people, it's that there's this faction of Americans who really dislike marginalized groups."

As for exusing his various lies, misdeeds and crimes, there's a pattern that has emerged time and time again:
    1) He didn't say/do that! It's a liberal media lie!
    2) OK maybe he technically said that but what he really meant was X.
    3) Obama did it first.

Trump supporters are generally OK with any of those rationalizations.
It's not really an insinuation. About 10 years ago, for example, a study showed that watching FOX News, a right wing news outlet, resulted in people being less informed than if they watched no news at all. It's why COVID death rates are considerably higher in Trump-leaning counties, due to the people there being misinformed about both vaccines and quack cures.

Of course the 'allegations' are true, their his own words. I guess if you support Trump you're either stupid or not that invested in the idea of democracy.
It isn't insinuating it is Trump's own words. I guess if you stick your deep enough into the sand and only listen to the radical right news, Trump seems OK .

When equal rights become special privileged over those who the equal rights activist demanded to be equal with. I get that angst. I don't get the ongoing special privileged groups undermining the rest of us out here, who were all for equal rights. Its gotten to the point that even would be well informed voters see little use in voting. Democracy be dammed, or so the special privileged seem to want it. If your not special privileged and like myself ... A guy who thinks equal rights should be extended across the entire citizen demographic, then you shouldn't be offended. I'm sure Trump has special privileges as do some of those minority down trodden types but there's still my demographic that seems to have lost a voice of reason for democracy and civic duty. Something I still believe in as an American.

He's running for president again after a 4 year retreat from the seat. You reckon he needed a vacation and allowed Biden to fill it for him?

Chris Sununu has decided not to run. Senator Manchin is still thinking about it. Unless Chris Christie gets some major traction, IMO, the only choice is going to be Biden. There is no way that Trump is going to win, I can't see Pense getting any votes other than the Midwestern religious vote, DeSantis (not much better than Trump) can't beat Trump and I don't see Hailey going anywhere (or Senator Scott).

Sorry, couldn't parse that sentence. Equal rights are not special privileges.
Like white straight cis men? I agree. They have had special privileges for so long that they have gotten used to them. They become bitter and angry when those privileges are taken away, and they are put on an equal footing with everyone else. That's why we are seeing so much hatred towards Target for having a pride display, towards Bud Light for having a trans person on a can of beer, and towards Chick-Fil-A for having a DEI program. They sense they are losing those special privileges to undeserving groups (i.e. trans people, gay people, drag queens) and are lashing out in anger.
I agree again. Indeed, republicans are actually trying to make it harder for people to vote, in order to protect their power.
    100% agreed there.
Yep. If anyone else had (for example) admitted to grabbing women's pussys on air, they'd be in jail.
Uh - maybe? Special privileges is the opposite of being downtrodden, but perhaps some of the downtrodden have special privleges intended to make them no longer downtrodden. Which is a good goal, if not always implemented well.

The anti-vaxxer? That should probably disqualify him as quickly as being a flat Earther would.

What made this interview so different from the previous ones on FOX is that in the others, whenever Trump started to falter or slip up, the interviewer would try to bale him out or quickly change the subject. This time, the interviewer didn't do that. He'd push back on statements, and continued to press even when Trump was clearly struggling.
