I just picked up some new albums as of late:

Authority Zero- a Passage in Time- slightly above average pop-punk with a bit of ska and a twist of Sublime thrown in for good measure. Decent song writing overall especially on the few slower songs, good instrumentation and vocals, the video songs are the best thing on the album "One More Minute" and "Over Seasons". Overall B-

Jewel- 0304- I really expected this to be better, really only listened to it one time so far-kind of flakey- As a matter of fact I think its is called 0304 because song 3-"Intuition" and song 4-"Leave the Lights on" are the only good songs-still the song "Becoming" is a really nice high energy neo-power ballad ala Sarah McLachlan. I think this album would have been alot better if she spent more time in the song writing process, the whole album seems like she took folk music rhythms that you have heard a thousand times and blended them with pop rock and a little electronica to make really shallow, yet feel-good "teen movie" soundtrack music.
    Overall B

I have their first two releases, and the second disc is titled Patches In Time, so the title of their newest release kind of caught my eye. Comparing the cuts on each, I would have to say it's almost the equivalent of a "best of" compilation. Check this out... anything in red was on a previous release:

    Passages In Time
    • 1. A Passage In Time
      2. Lying Awake
      3. One More Minute
      4. Everyday
      5. Super Bitch
      6. Over Seasons
      7. Skys The Limit
      8. Some People
      9. La Surf
      10. Not You
      11. Good Ol Days
      12. Mesa Town
    Patches in Time
    • 1. A Passage In Time
      2. Everyday
      3. Solitude
      4. Skys The Limit
      5. One More Minute
      6. Not You
      7. Sky's The Limit
    Live Your Life
    • 1. Open Eyes
      2. Lost
      3. Gool Ol' Days
      4. Progress
      5. Solitude
      6. Super Bitch
      7. Why Ask
      8. Mesa Town
      9. La Surf
Only three new cuts? Lame. Very lame.

    :m: Peace.

so much for a full review, fredx... i'd imagine you could at least come up with a short paragraph on WHY you don't like it.

wait, then again, you gave the new Jewel album a B, a whole fucking B... what can we expect from you now? actual genuine taste in music? hell no, you've blown your reputation! just go sit in the corner and listen to your Jewel, and don't go posting music reviews again.

    edit: added the Jewel comments.

dude I am posting this here because I don't want to furtherly hijack your post on this band. You know with Jewel it seems like she is using rhythms that have been used for 1000 years, which means they are almost to the point of total banality, but at least they are solid songs with some structure and order, this bands music sounds like its music is all over the place and its vocals are subpar. That said I am not trying to be insulting, taste is taste and it may sound like gold to you, so I guess that is what matters.
    sincerely, Fredx

okay, that was well-said.... i'd just think you could find a singer with structure and order in their songs besides jewel.... but "it may sound like gold to you, so i guess that is what matters," right? okay.
