There's no way to study for the SAT. There's only way to prepare for it because there's too much that it covers...you either know it or you don't. I recommend an SAT prep course. That'll get the person used to the format of the SAT and the course will teach tricks that will make the test easier.

But definately take advantage of taking the PSAT in the sophomore year and early junior year of highschool. The PSAT will give experience with that format of test and more importantly it'll break down sections like writing:grammar or reading:vocabulary, and show which specific sections the person is weak on. The person could use this to pinpoint areas to "study."

    I got a 1550

I did this by going to bed early, waking up at like 8:30 (started at 9), and having my mother have breakfast ready for me. I was completly relaxed, no stress.

you can't study for it. take it from me mum, a high school teacher. i didn't study and i did well (but i don't make a habit of giving away my numbers) while a friend tried reviewing prep books constantly and took a course. twice. she got about 900 both times.

Oh, and a little (by little, I mean enough for four or five lungfuls) bit of :m: the night before, to induce restful sleep, would help. According to my crazy friend who got a 1560 or some weird thing like that.

You could start by not sounding like an illiterate, under-educated slob who wears his pants backwards and has moose antlers tied to the grill of his Chevy.

Just a suggestion. Good luck, ya'll.

    LOL, some ignorant ppl here....

You can study for the SAT, and you can also study for the ACT.

But the ACT is harder to study for because it is a content-based test.

The SAT is easier to raise your score because it is a concept-based test.

Whoever said you "can't study" for knows jack-sh!t about these tests. And all these high 1500+ scores, don't even bullshit them. Look at the IQ thread (everyone is a genius on all the forum boards across the net, lol). SAT's are pretty important in college admissions but not that important. Instead of telling your SAT, why don't you tell us what university you will be attending.

Get Kaplan or pay for a course on the SAT. I didn't do any of that but I took it only twice in my senior year with one week's worth of preparation. 1370 first time around, 1460 second time.

Math should be very easy, to do well on the verbal study vocab words and READ alot. For math, take a couple of practice tests and get used to the "way of thinking" to prepare for those questions.

Like a couple of people I knew, they scored around 1200-1300 when they first took it, but then they went through the *entire* 10 REAL SAT's by Collegeboard, took all ten of them and they scores where in the 1400+++ ranges.

The SAT is a joke really, you should be able to top 1300 no problem if you have the potential to.

Ask any ivy league student, 10 REAL SAT's is *the* most important book that will help you prepare for the SAT.

I only took 1 practice test and I know it helped.

ANyway the SAT is changing in about 2 years...
