Christianity is a funny religion because it is all about believing correctly,
and then if you do you get to live in Heaven. But the Bible has almost nothing
to say about what happens to you when you do beat death. Think about it
though. If you had an infinite time to live but you were invisible and had
no job or girlfriend, and bills to pay and vacations to look forward to AND
children to raise. What's the point?

Eternal life the worst form of punishment for a sentient mind. The birth and death of a star is just a blink in his eye. Nothing really matters.

The Bible has almost nothing to say about living in heaven, because we're not going there.

And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
(Revelation 21:1-3, KJV).

God is coming to live with us, not the other way around.

Imagine now if you spent your entire life arguing against the Bible, only to find to find out everything you were arguing against wasn't even in the Bible.

So, what are you doing on the earth now? Is your life on earth a total useless waste of time?

What are you doing?

To disprove living in heaven, because what you're arguing against isn't in the Bible.

Can you get this? It isn't in the Bible.

You've spent hundreds of hours fighting against stuff that isn't even in the Bible.

No.
Just saying there is no Heaven, doesn't mean there is no Heaven.
Heaven is heaven and earth is earth.
King Jesus RULES forever.

You're complaining because I believe in God?
You're complaining because I believe in Jesus?
You're complaining because I believe in power?
You're complaining because I believe in omnipotence?
You're complaining because I believe in omniscience?

Your dream must be the opposite, no God, no Jesus, impotence, knowing nothing.

That is why people preach the gospel.
There is a better way.

I repeat:
Your dream must be the opposite, no God, no Jesus,
impotence, knowing nothing.

Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
(Ephesians 5:14, KJV).

"There is no need to be worried by facetious people who try to make the Christian hope of "Heaven" ridiculous by saying that they do not want "to spend eternity playing harps." The answer to such people is that if they cannot understand books written for grown-ups, they should not talk about them. All the scriptural imagery (harps, crowns, gold, etc.) is, of course, a merely symbolic attempt to express the inexpressible. Musical instruments are mentioned because for many people (not all) music is the thing known in the present life which most strongly suggests ecstasy and infinity. Crowns are mentioned to suggest the fact that those who are united with God in eternity share his splendour and power and joy. Gold is mentioned to suggest the timelessness of Heaven (gold does not rust) and the preciousness of it. People who take these symbols literally might as well think that when Christ told us to be like doves, He meant that we were to lay eggs. "

C.S. Lewis, 'Mere Christianity' page 121-122

Hiya

I suggest you guys worry more about the visible than the invisible. Enjoy the here and now. Tomorrow is a possibility. Nothing more. Now is reality. Absolutely. Enjoy the moment, do not live in enslavement beheld to an unknown aftermath.

"He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
But he who kisses the joy as it flies
Lives in eternity`s sunrise"

(W.Blake-1789)

Take care

Vinnie,

Thanks for the reply. C.S. Lewis was a fine writer and thinker about
religion. But personally, "suggesting ecstasy and infinity," are
a far different thing than believing in infinite life. Believing in magic,
and invisible beings has been going forever. I live in a third world
country and not everyone is a Christian, but everyone believes in ghosts.
Two thousand years ago when this Bible story was getting off the ground,
everyone was ignorant, and no one had any idea what was really going on
here. There weren't atheists back then, because there weren't rational
scientific explanations for anything. The Church became in our
society, in charge of magical thinking, saying that you must believe this way
about magical thinking. And they enforced the magical thinking
mandate. They had power.

However, in the present time even country boys like myself, can have a fine
education about the way things really are, and how we all came to be here,
without believing in invisible beings Freeing oneself from magical
thinking is a leap into the future. Believing in magic detracts from the
majesty of having a life, and really blinds us to the suffering of others.
And it often prevents us from making rational political decisions.

Hello 2+2, I believe that heaven is the next level to our existance. Heaven for christians is rather a placed created by their leader for their safety amongst the infinte posibilities of conciousness, kind of like a saftey house.
And for all other religions they are amongst the ideas created by their faith too.

I think the idea of hell is for the concious people on earth that make it harder for others to live in peace, such as murderers, rapist and reckless souls.
when we cross over they are free in their own form, which is needed to be balanced by the good we create within ourselves and by the 'christian house'

Anything we do on earth become apart of our infinte source, that why the basis of christianity is so great, it saves people from evil in the next realm, as does any calm form of religious faith.

I doubt it very much, belief in Hell doesnt stop people from comiting crimes b/c they know in the end they can REPENT accept Jesus and voila, you're forgiven and assured a place in Heaven.
maybe thats why theres more believers in prisons than atheists,
and the highly religious bible belt is the worst
