i'm still a student and probably will be for many years to come cause i refuse to stop until people call me doctor. i've gotten paid for tutoring bio/chem, mentoring kids (also science related), and as an office assistant (in science dept office) and a pharmacy tech.

Highschool/secondary student (12th grade, last year starting this september!) I work as a cook/dishwasher at a small italian family restaurant/bar at nights, and during the days i mix cement, move cinderblocks around, drive a 'bobcat' (type of truck) and other fun stuff at a construction site working for my boss at the restaurant...

College after next year, pretty sure, i'd really like to travel too...might take a year off before uni...but that's not usually done here in the U.S....very common in the U.K. i hear (gap year)

By day I am a not-so-mild-mannered logistics planner for a computer company.

By night I am an aspiring author, Illuminati agent, SciForums junkie and would-be business owner trying to start my own rally racing team.

Like Guyute said, you should always be a student first; whether you are at an institution or not! Knowing something can only ever help you (and shouldn't do any harm), but not knowing something can do you harm. Why not try all of those things Chris; 'astrophysicist, a theoretical physicist, or make movies, games, and or music', or are you going to climb to the top of one specific field and then gain fame and a fortune?? You should concentrate your efforts on whatever interests you the most! That is the way you will get the most out of things! Plus being at university isn't everything; you can always study while you are working (even if only in little bits) and should you decided later, then you can go to uni. However you can always study and while not being at university, but not studying while being at university will just be a waste of time and money.

I'm a student at Southeast College of Technology(Renamed to Remington College for whatever reason). I'm in there for Networking Administration and am considering a double major with programming. I graduate in about a year. I plan to send my resume to hundreds of jobs...whatever I can find...that is away from here.

I can't stand it in New Orleans, but I'm kind of caught between the rest of my life and a girl. I guess I'll just have to see what happens.

My day job: I type. I do data entry for Oreck Vacuums in their headquarters located in New Orleans. I hate it. People have their heads up their asses.

I study IT security and I'm doing my final training job (that will be over in 2 months).

I work at Subway, and am also a 'Sandwich Artist'

I have worked there for 3 years in June.

I am also going on my 3rd year of college where I major in Literature and Philosophy.

I might also be training to be a nurse's asst. at the nursing home my mother works at. It pays almost twice what I get at Subway, and they pay me while they train me. Sounds like a good deal. Besides, I need more money for school.

Most people put thier jobs in thier profile, and last I knew there was a sticky on this, but I guess not, since this thread is here. I'm a aircraft armament systems technician in the US Air Force, BYW, in case you don't look at my profile.

    I am sure

I'm sure... but if I felt I had the time and the patience to look in everyones profile, I would have done so don't you think....

But its rather intriguing that so many have a profession completely non-related to science.

I think I may have to start another thread about "what made you come here" ha.
