okay, so I'm almost sure this is right for me... but, for others, i might never know... I remember my dreams more when I do not have sex or masturbate. I believe that masturbation and sex, for some reason or another, sort of ejaculate the mind of all its imagination. I know that Thoreau was a lifelong virgin, and he felt that way, but I think it can be use knowledge if you are trying to lucid dream. take a break from the big 0... well, the little 0 for me... *** do you have any ODD lucid dreaming advice that you learned through personal experience?
Two things (probably related) help me. If I lay in a slightly uncomfotable position. Not such as I can't sleep, or I will wake with a crick... Just one part of my body. For example: If I place my hand between the mattress and box spring when I sleep. Or if my leg is just slightly twisted. It is something that reminds my body of the "real world". Something that I will "feel" when I am asleep. The other thing, is when i sleep on my back. I find it VERY difficult to fall asleep on my back. It is not particularly uncomfortable. In fact, it is more comfortable, in a way, than lying on my stomache. When I first lay down, I usually lay on my back first for a while and relax. Then when it is time to sleep, I roll over and go to sleep, because I won't be bale to fall asleep on my back. If I am VERY tired or VERY relaxed I will be able to sleep on my back, but that is not very often at all. I noticed, that when I DO sleep on my back, I remember my dreams more often, and I succeed at lucid dreaming more often. In fact, maybe even more often than not. When I sleep on my stomache, I very rarely remember my dreams at all, and I almost never lucid dream. I don't know if it is related to the "reminder of the real world" thing, or it is unrelated to that and coincidental. Maybe I just lucid dream more often and remember my dreams more often when I am VERY tired or VERY relaxed. By the same reasoning, maybe I think I "almost never lucid dream" when I sleep on my stomache simply because I so rarely remember my dreams when I sleep on my stomache, and I am also forgetting my lucid dreams. Does anyone else have similar experiences/advice?
I will take that advice and try sleeping with my arm under the mattress or my hands in gloves and I'll get back to you. It seems logical.
There is a hindu belief that ejactulation allows the escape of sexual chi. Part of sexual pratice (a la the Kama Sutra and other such manuals) was to learn how to orgasm (which was akin to becoming closer to the gods) witho out ejectulating. This would allow you to not lose the life energy held in the ejaculate, and also had a hand in allowing you to live longer. Given some of those guys live to over 110, I'd say they may have something there... I have personally found that if I refrain from sex, I tend to be able to focus better on things such as meditation. But this only works for a certain length of time, and then the lack of "release" begins to add distracting thoughts into normally calm meditations. Although (boobies), I've gotten (yummyumm) pretty (very nice) good at (hee heee) keeping it under (yeah, baby) control. Oh, who am I kidding Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
yup So, sleeping with my hand in betwwen the matresses did not work, because I just kept pulling it out. I tried gloves to and they seemed to be pretty good... THEN.. aha... I duck taped two of my fingers together and WOW!! I had something tangible and it transferred into my dream. I was dreming that I had a hand like a lobster and I realized why. I woke up, but I will be trying again...
Re: yup The realizing why you were having that dream is what will cause a dream to take that step into lucidity. (or, sometimes will wake you up Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!) Anyway... That's great. Maybe I will try something like that. Have you tried any similar techniques since then? Any luck?
I dont do often but if i sleep with my hands under my pillow then my head on them i seem to get lucid dreams, or dreams i cant wake from anyway, the ones where i think im awake but not, those really suck Has anyone been able to actually change whats happening in the dream once they notice there in it?
Interesting. I came to the same conclusion. Laying on my back is my thinking position, hard to fall asleep. But I have more lucid dreams and OBEs that way. During one OBE when I was sleeping on my side, it was annoying because I could feel the pillow pushing against my cheek as I roamed around. That's what a lucid dream is for me.
. Though, I don't remember consciously doing it, I was able to see an event and return back to before it happened and change the outcome.
"Has anyone been able to actually change whats happening in the dream once they notice there in it?" i havent, but ive only ever had a couple of lucid dreams, but the lucidity institute says you can do anything you can imagine when your in their, so maybe you people are soooo helpful, im gonna try the duc tape idea, hope it works
I was able to make a sword apear in my hand but when i went to use it it would not cut anything. I did try to get my street lights to go on and off but that did not work. And in another part of that dream i stole a bus and was driving that around.
Maybe it would just work if you put a small piece of tape on the back of your hand? I feel a little uncomfortable about taping my fingers together... I'm almost positive I'll dream about my hands falling off. =P [EDIT]--> I tried using a small piece of scotch (not duct) tape on the back of my hand, and it failed miserably. After awhile it just felt like part of my hand.
.. hmm i should try the duct tape thing.. well i can change the backround of my dreams by spinning around and i find out im in a dream by reading something and then reading it again or looking at a picture and then looking at it again if it changes then i become lucid.. and i have to do that through the day so i remember to do it in my dream.. ..just some pointers.. and btw sometimes i think ive woken up but im still dreaming lol
Welcome to sciforums pirrates. Yeah, I once "woke up" like four times in a row. The weirdest was when I stretched (as I usually do when I wake up) and my hands hit a bookshelf above my bed that I instantly knew shouldn't be there. I looked and, sure enough, there was a new bookshelf there. Freaky!
4 sure *rubs imaginary "sure" in his armpit* That makes sense, I used to Lucid dream almost every other night as a young virgin who didn't even know how to whack off.
I don't know of any techniques, but I had an amazing lucid dream the other day, when I had my afternoon nap, and again the following day before I woke up in the morning.
