I've noticed we have a plentiful supply of people generally interested in science (no, really) so with my mind that means they're probably science-fiction fans like me. Anyway I came up with a new, similar name to the second star wars movie that sounds ten times better than the current one. If you happen to know anyone that can get in contact with lucasfilm that would be much appreciated

If you haven't already heard, the title is "Episode Two: Attack of the clones."

Sounds like a 'b' movie, right (episode one was a 'b' movie in my opinion, just with lots of good effects)

    My name:
Episode Two: Assault of the Cloned

Opinions welcome (why else wouldn't I post something on the net?)

    I laughed so hard

I laughed so hard, so very, very hard when I saw the word 'clone' in the Episode II title. It's just really a total shame for an established Scifi movie series like star wars to have such an overused, cheap element in its title. Even if cloning is becoming more and more commonplace in our socio-political debates, it has totally gassed itself out in film. I feel so bad for George Lucas that he's stuck with a story about clones to come up with a title for. But anyway, it's not like star wars titles have to be so literal. It's not like there was a character named 'Hope' in 'A New Hope.'

    episode1 really was a b movie..

..but i love it anyways for the sake of Darth Maul *grins*

assault of the cloned?? that implies that the originals (not the clones) would be the ones fighting. heh. you changed the plot around with your title.

Have your short memories forgotten that George Lucas is telling the past. Obviously the second title implies the clone wars.

You should never judge a book by its cover anyway,(that goes for movies as well)
Is it really important what he calls it, shouldn't you see the movie before deciding on how crap it is.
Episode one couldn't be hard to beat anyway.

I know we shouldn't judge books by their covers, but despite that saying everyone does usually whether or not they want to. If I want to get a book I usually judge it by it's cover FIRST before reading the back and looking for reviews. Most of the time I buy books because I know the author is good.
But anyway, having a good can and will improve anything.

I had figured on "Clone Wars", but ...

It occurred to me yesterday when discussing this and a rumored (confirmed?) plot twist that this title may well be a Lucas maneuver designed to put certain fans in their place.

I can't tell you how much complaint I've heard about Ewoks and Jar-Jar Binks. It's entirely possible that the title reminds us of what "Star Wars" really is (is there any more B-class title than "Star Wars"?), and just who George Lucas is.

It's almost like he's saying, in the Bill Gates tradition: Don't like the Ewoks? Can't stand Jar-Jar? Go take a leap 'cause I am George Freakin' Lucas, and this is my movie.

And thank you, Generalhurrss for reminding us of the Clone Wars; among most of my friends, this one's common assumption, but I forget that some people don't remember ....

    thanx,
    Tiassa

I said it before and il say it again, I hate hate HATE George Lucas. The man is a sellout the highist bidder and doesnt even care about making a good movie anymore, the first 3 great, episode 1 sucked. The whole reason Jar-Jar was even in the movie is so he could do Pepsi commercials and get more money for George Lucas. Just like his stupid little patient on the whole gun/phaser things over battlestar gallactica. We the scifi community should sue George for making a mockery of a great movie, and i think us startrek people should sue him to, why because ST used space as a setting first. But thats just stupid just like his little gun thing. I said all this in a other post and il be saying it again the man is a sellout. George Lucas is stupid, Episode 1 was stupid the whole darn prequel thing was stupid! Im sorry it just really makes me mad!

If he makes you that made over a movie then maybe you should take a chill pill or something.
So what if ST was set in space first, aside from that the 2 stories have nothing in common, and St is boring as all fuck anyway.

Oh and one other thing, in this day and age, to make a living you have to sell out, George isn't the only one you know, you don't think Star Trek sold out then your very nieve.
Don't damn the man for being a good buisnessmen is what i'm trying to say.

    Neb originally said
"So what if ST was set in space first"
I was being sarcastic. Hey JMS (B5) never sold out. Look what happend to him, he believed so strongley in what he had made that he was willing to get it cancelled. Crusade was great and all TNT wanted to do was add in more sex and action and JMS said "NO" He didn't sell out, why because he's hardcore and believes in what he does thats why. George Lucas can bite me.

JMS (J. Michael Strychizky, and i say JMS because i cant spell his last name) is the creator of Babylon 5. He had a second show called crusade that got cancelled because TNT (a tv station) wanted to add in more sex and violence. so the show got cancelled because JMS refused to do that. He refused to sell out, unlike george who can still bite me.

Babylon 5, no wonder I didn't have a clue what you were talking about.
There's no way on earth i'm going to dispute what your saying because the most about sci fi that I know is Star Wars was hella cool and Star Trek was too until they went overboard with the Next Generation and so on and so on.

It's amusing to think that the Starwars Hexology had been written before hand, and nobody percieved the titles before. (That should get you hunting around for the Third)

Although I tend to think of a Clone war as "Bladerunner" which I just don't think can be surpassed in the dealing with Clones (well manufactured peoples) that have been outlawed.

I suppose it will be fun to see how it pans out, but alot of people do seem to knock starwars.

They seem to forget that when the first starwars films were made, the special effects were "State of the art" and very "Expensive", no adays the price is far cheaper and people can put films together at home on their PC.
So films with special effects are all the norm.

Also when the first Starwars film was released how many films were being produced at holiwood per year?

About 1-3 per year, now adays it's 8 or 9 being completed every 3 months.

It's just us as the populous that watches films are beginning to loose the excitement of the graphics or special effects as we see them in every film we watch.

You need to watch more scifi so you can know what im talking about, i like ST and SW (not ep1) and I love B5. I suggest you give B5 look it will change your whole view on scifi. It was and always will be my favorite scifi series, besides farscape which is the absolute best.

You have to remember too that Lucas had been waiting many years to have the capabilities to do the special effects so when he got the chance did you honestly think he wasn't going to go overboard with it.

Yeah I agree with your Neb if i had that much Special efects stuff at my finger tips then i would just go nuts with it. Besides its not special efects im looking for its a good solid plot line that really makes you think, and in my opinion Episode 1 failed to do that.

I think there was a plot it just wasn't that good, and he knew this so he made up for it with really good Fx in the hope that people wouldn't notice the story wasn't as exciting.
Its also hard to get into something that you already know the end to. Maybe if it had of been done in order then Episode 1 would have gone down better because there would still be that air of mystery.
As it is its easy to tell that chansellor Vellerom is the evil emporer, Queen hot stuff is going to get it on with little Anikin and Jar Jar won't be seen ever again in Star Wars movie.
The only question out of E1 is who will replace there Jar Jar's character for "comic" relief in the 2nd Episode
