HI: May I ask you to give the equivalent of the following in other language or languages you know: A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND INDEED. I think I have what is in par on it in French and Spanish. As for those of us who just know English, I suggest they give their explanatins or tell us whether they have ever used it. I humbly dedicate this thread to the dear one "who loves this game". Thanks
A FRIEND IN NEED IS A FRIEND IN DEED. A person who desperately needs you for something will do anything for you.

1. Connaît is the conjugation of connaître for 'il, elle, on,' not 'connait.' Umm...what? I've only been taking French for a few years, but to me this looks like: 'One knows' (on connaît) 'the true friend' (le veritable ami) 'in need.' (dans le besoin) While I can make a hazy connection, I would alter this a little bit to make it a bit clearer. A more literal translation would be: Un ami (a friend) dans le besoin (in need) est un ami en effet. (is a friend indeed) However, a slight alteration of yours could make sense...I would suggest changing your original translation (if you didn't want to take mine Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!) to On connaît (one knows) le veritable ami (the true friend) quand il dans le besoin (when he is in need). They both work, I guess. But yours needed a tad bit of correction.
