What do you think of this movie?

I thought I was desensitized by violent movies and video games, but after watching this movie, I realized that I was a big pussy. Now I'm numb for real. This movie made me nauseous. I didn't like any part of the movie really. Just didn't mean anything to me.

Is it me or does the Devil look a lot like billy corgen?

Woman collapses during "Passion" screening, dies later in hospital...

    -source-

    Whoa. :bugeye:

Any comments? I'm kind of speechless. I mean, I know people have cried, some people even prayed when the actor playing Jesus did ... but dying?!

    Whoa.

For some ppl the movie is quite an experience, quite an experience indeed. The story of Jesus to some Christians is very moving, and very inspirational. I guess it was too much to bear for this woman, but at least she died seeing the movie.

woohoo 1 person dies under the show big deal, it not like she is the first to die doing a movieT The article fails to tell anything about her medical and fysical condision prior to her dead.

for all we know she could be overwiegth and with a history of minor heartattacks.

), but if there is one skill I truely was blessed with in this life, its watching human suffering with no emotion(or positive emotions depending on the case).
All this hype I see as a challenge, i'm sure i could very easily handle it, even if I was hynotised before hand by one of those hypnotists you see on tv and he said "when i click my fingers, you will think this movie is really happening in front of you in real life" I would handle it, the only difference would be I'd be asking jesus if it was ok that I eat popcorn while watching him die and I'd probably feel awkward enough to unconvincingly pretend I'm concerned, like "you ok dude? man that must suck being all nailed onto a cross and shit*slurp on frozen coke*"

I find my not caring for people a real problem in my day to day life, I'm constantly having to fake being saddened in order to be polite or normal.
If someone dies and I hear the news, I'll be like "aww that sucks hey?" but like totally unconvincingly, its kind of embarrassing. I'm never even concerned enough to put in a good performance. I don't want to be known as an asshole but I just can't fake caring very well.
People think I'm selfish when they notice i just don't care and I find that really insulting because I'd give my body to an endangered carnivore if it was starving. I really would. And not one of these people that insult me would give their own life for anything at all. I know them personally and had already come to the conclusion that they are incredibly selfish people, and then they call me selfish? I just find that very irritating.
I'm also not as selfish as them in that I wouldn't consider it a big deal if I died, where as they would, and thats a big part of the reason they can be concerned with human death and suffering.
Ironically it is their own selfishness and arrogance(sense of universal importance/signifigance) that makes them able to see the death and suffering of others as saddening and that allows them to judge me as selfish for not being like them.
Sorry just had to vent. This is a serious problem for me, you'd be surprised how often you are expected to show concern for others in everyday life, most people wouldn't notice.
You really notice it when showing concern is something you dread because you can't be legitimately concerned and you are so bad at faking it.

What? " The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre". It's no more shocking than Lethal Weapon
The Bible didnt sugar coat the gory parts..Mel Gibson is just some dude making money.

    A bit cynical.

Why not take his reasons for making the film at face value.
He is a man who is passionate about his religion. Although the movie is now doing extraordinarily well due to the controversies resulting from it, Gibson took quite a chance investing $25 million of his own money to help bankroll the project.

Dr Lou, I can totally sympathize with you on being awkward pretending to care about things. I think most people can with the possible exception of women. The fact is, Jesus had it coming and he knew it and chose the path anyway. I didn't feel bad for him or his followers.

It was the way they showed the violence and startled me. It was extremely real looking. Most movies look at least fake enough for my brain to be unconvinced. I'm very keen to detail and this movie was extremely convincing and unrelenting. The way it was produced forced me to sympathize. It wasn't so much an emotional reponse as it was a response you might get from motion sickness, which is something I normally don't have a problem with.

I think I'll be showing up in a toga! And staining it with with Jamaica water so that Gramma Joe and her fat grandchildren get a heart attack!!

Hillarious- hysterical- to hear that half a million Americans will be flocking to this movie to cry their eyes out over a movie with people they don't even know when I'm sitting here knowing that their parents and loved ones will not be shown the same amount of pain and pathos when they die.

    They do it for Kennedies.
They do it for Princess Dis.
They do it for stupid pop divas and actors that die of their own stupidities.
They lose it over complete strangers and drama but they're so much more quiet and rational when its one of their own that dies.

I will be going to see it, but I wonder who I'll be watching more- the screen or the audiance.

Dr. Lou Natic, you might have a form of autism like Asperger's Syndrome. I also find it hard to empathize with others sometimes for this reason.

dr. that may not be all that rare. i don't know about elsewhere but americans seem to be pretty aloof to these things and tend not to care about people other than themselves. i'm pretty numb to people dying, real people on the news. my mom is constantly (because she's morbid and wierd) telling me about some girl who was raped in the subway or some guy who was just knifed in jamaica and i just don't feel anything. probably because it happens too often or we're so used to seeing it on tv that we'd end up institutionalized if we had a deep emotional reaction to every thing that happens. even things happening to a friend-of-a-friend is kind of hard to internalize.
would you feel anything if your mother was beaten bloody and killed? if so i'm sure you're normal.

    dumbass christ fans

wow, i haven't posted for a long time...nice layout porf...

anyway, i was reading some reviews on tribute.ca regarding the new jesus movie and one critic's comment struck me as amusing:

I'm just waiting for someone to say "the book was better."

I'm boycotting this movie. Who's with me?

Like most people, I used to think Mel gibson was ok. But then about ten years ago, I read his Playboy interview where he dismissed evolution as nonsense. My respect for him took a nosedive.

Now this movie? Michael Edelstein dismissed it on Fresh Air as a "two hour long snuff film". I'm keeping my distance from this turkey, and anyone who likes it.
