Why does some pain, even if really intense, makes us laugh? My mother said that when she was in labor with my brother, the pain was so bad that she started laughing. I have also had this experience, and it happened to be in my lower back. Is it coincidence, or does it happen most frequently in the spinal cord? And why does it occur?
I can easily say that has never happened to me. I yell out some pretty unsavory words when in pain but never laugh...that is actually the last thing in my mind...when serious pain is concerned. When I bang my elbow into something I do get a laughing/pain sensation. I am in pain but it just tickles in the right way to give birth to a retarded expression of pain and laughter.
well it happened to me. Once i just went right through my living room window and it hurt like a bitch. but i laughed, probably to surpress the pain of glass shards in my arm Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I've never laughed or do I know anyone who laughed when they were in pain. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Perhaps the laughter response and the pain response cross over somewhere? I've done it too, feels like a stinking chemical reaction to me, certainly wasnt funny, but laughting was better than hopping around screaming nasty things at the chair.
The opposite happens to me... Sometimes I laugh so hard that my belly hurts... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! Oh... and of course... My face gets all red and it fells kinda big and I start seeing everything weird... By that time, I usually fall of the sofa... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I laugh when I bleed, or when I get burnt from live fire. Toaster burns hurt, but flames... it feels nice...
