What is this book? I presume it's got something to do with a character called "Da Vinci", who ever that might be, and perhaps some kind of code? I was thinking of buying it the other day, it's in a three for one offer, and people seem to be raving about it.
It has to do with the work of Leonardo DaVinci. It's a good read, also has to do with the Holy Grail... kinda a modern day treasure hunt book.
"The Da Vinci Code' is a very good mystery. The story moves quickly and is interesting the whole way through. In contrast, in 'Angels and Demons' the plot is too convoluted to be reasonable. I would like to know more about the relationship of Jesus and Mary Magdalene, the Priory of Scion, etc. Ideas on books to read?
I've read both "The Davinci Code" and "Angels and Demons". I didn't find Angels too convoluted. I thought it was a terrific book, and it was even better that although the two use the same central character, you don't have to read one to understand the other. As far as a book regarding Jesus and his crew, I recommend "Bloodline of the Grail". I don't remember who wrote it, but it's a really interesting look. Get the larger illustrated version. The charts and artwork really add to the text.
O, thanks for the book recommendation. I found Angels to be interesting and fast paced. However, the plot got very strange in the last 50 pages or so with the whole helicopter incident (won't reveal too much for those who haven't read it). It's still a good book and one I would recommend. I just found the ending frustrating. By contrast 'The Davinci Code' is much more consice, the story flows better and the ending is more plausible.
So, have any of you watched the "Titanic" after having finished "The Da Vinci Code?" Notice anything strange? If you haven't seen it in a while watch it again.
So no one else noticed that the main female character in the Titanic is Rose and Leonardo Di Caprio (I almost wrote Da Vinci) is a christ figure (i.e, arms outstretched like a cross proclaiming he is the king of the world).
"The Da Vinci Code" didn't really offer anything new. It merely was a rehash of "Holy Blood , Holy Grail".
I saw a show about the book, it's interesting and seems plausable. I think DaVinci was in the Illuminati >_>....
Considering the illuminati was founded in the late 1700's and DaVinci lived in the 1400's it seems pretty unlikely. Its a great book but I think i'll have to read more before i can decide if its right or not. Seems a little off the wall to me.
Grover you said that Di Caprio was a Christ figure. I would have to disagree on that. Yes, he did stretch out his hands in the same fashion as Christ did. Yet, he did commit fornication. My memory is a little fuzy on the movie so could you show me any other arguments for why Di Caprio is a Christ figure?
Italiano, you haven't read the Da Vinci Code have you? The book claims that Christ did fornicate with Mary Magdalene who is symbolised by a rose. So, in the Titanic the fact that the Di Caprio character fornicates with Rose is further evidence of him being a christ figure seen in the light of the Da Vinci Code thesis...along with the whole standing with arms out stretched like a cross and proclaiming himself King of the World.
I've heard good things about this book. But I don't have the time to read it ... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
It isn't really fornication if they (Jesus and Mary Magdalene) were married which is what the book claims.
screwed up authors' names. I haven't read this book, but from what has been said I'd tend to agree with Circe. It sounds like someone's cashing in on a theme done back in the early 80's - "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail" By Michael Baigent, Richard Leigh and Henry Lincoln. And I promise - there is no mention of the Titanic in the latter. Promise.
What do you mean by "offer anything new" ? It's a thriller, a piece of fiction, not fact. Had you heard of the main characters before? :bugeye:
The Da Vinci Code is a good book- i am only about half way thru it. And it's only a fiction book! there is alot of history in the book some true some not so true but all in all it is a made up story. i like how dan brown makes a story like this seem so true and plossible- wether it is or not i'm not argueing that point. I would recommend that everyone read this book-it holds your attention and you become so engrossed in the story line.
