Quote dribbler i agree, yet if we fuck all we fuck ourselves. --- well not exactly to the point of saying fuck all others as more to the point of saying is it worth me making the effort to change the way i do something... and then at that point allot of people think why should i bother and then often look to other examples of how people in their lives represent things that are conceived as values there is a crucial point where people make a decision that is often life long.. or takes almost their entire life to fix/re-adjust all people make mistakes and also travel paths that may lead them through times when they do not act in the best way as a role model the main point is being able to identify the specific examples of values and ethics and holding value in that one thing to be able to learn and consequently grow by others mistakes is maybe one of the highest qualities of the advanced mind while not using it as an excuse to justify all possibilities that can be as or surrounding that specific result maybe the most important thing that will make the largest difference is the way you adopt or design a tool/way of solving problems while people may be on the path to make the attempt to make themselfs a better person they mst often loose some of their personality and character by adopting a model of the "one size fits all" all people are unique to a finer point and are influenced in different ways by the same type of experience lost my train of thought sorry :/ but im sure you get the idea one way to look at it is to allow your lazzyness to fashion your desire for greater inventiveness Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
The best way to cure lazyness is to smoke (yourself sober with) more weed. Either that or do some work.
*cries* if you want to work it's a question of sitting down and just doing it. Yeah, it'll be hard for the first few lines, and the chat box in the corner (alternatively: TV show, Football Game, Girlfriend, text message, email, online game, ball park, dog, cat, budgie, fish, squirel, child, drink, piece of fluff next to your left trainer) will seem more interesting... but after the first thousand lines/six hours - it'll be great. Think of how good it'll feel to not have stuff pending.
There's a time to just kick back and take life easy or be lazy as your talking about. There's nothing wrong with being lazy for awhile but you should be able to do something for yourself after a time. I don't know of anyone that can just be totally lazy all of the time for they have to eat, bathe, shop and do other various things that they need to do to keep alive.
I put off shopping until I feel like walking to the store... I leave my truck at home and I live in the dorms downtown. I will just eat what I have left in rations and eat on campus when I must be there. It is an inefficient use of money... I will start going to the store more often.
In order to go shopping you must have money, to get money you must work or be born rich. So since you aren't born rich you'd better find a job that can support your wants as well as your needs but always remember to separate them or you will be in trouble. School will teach you things that you'll need to earn money in life, or you will suffer the consequences if you don't get an education. An education is a very important thing to have for without it you are going to have problems throughout life.
I read somewhere that the clue to laziness and procrastiantion is this: You think that it would be EASIER TO AVOID AND NOT DO what you *have to do*, instead of doing it. Of course, it seems easier to avoid doing things, but in the long run, things that need to be done, simply need to be done. And every procrastinator knows damn well that the pressure and the silent unease is much bigger when you are not doing what you should be doing. Strange, but in the end it is easer to do it instead of avoiding it.
For most procrastinators.. . Pressure > Procrastinating when the time comes near to the end (like when a project is due). If only we can find a way induce the pressure when we want to so we can complete anything way before the deadline.... Hrm.
I think I also suffer from the same thing as many of you do. I would rather be whipped than do homework. I hate walking to the post office just to deliver a letter. I won't even drive, I just hate doing stuff. I find myself staring blankly at the wall instead of doing homework. I need help. I still manage to go to the gym regularly and eat properly. when it comes to anything else, I hate it. I need to be cured of procrastination.
yeah, well, location cues can have a big impact. I used to never be able to study at home or in my room - because there my mind is like, "oh! But you should be doing this!" and the "this" was always much more fun than studying - even when it was cleaning. But at the library or someplace, studying is what I knew I was supposed to be doing (once I built that habbit), so while it wasnt fun it was at least natural... anyway, I have some friends who get over that hurdle by only listening to certain songs when they study. I kind of have always wanted to try having 'study incense' or scented oils, since the olefactory (sp?) system is supposed to be the most impactful.
This actually makes a lot of sense. I think I maybe should be doing something else. Since I am not doing the other thing yet, I should continue to be lazy.
unfortunatly, the best cure for laziness, IME and IMO, is a straightforeword mental choice to do something. Making that choice is one of those things that extrememly easy once you've done it, but really difficult before you do it. When you are sitting in front of a TV, thinking about going for a walk, the actuall acts of getting up, turning the TV off, getting your coat, and going outside seem like alot of work. Most of the time, you wan't succeed in ever getting up because it seems too difficult to be worth it. However, if you decide to just stop thinking about how hard it would be to do, and just do it, you'll find that it's not difficult at all. The anticipation is much worse than the actual doing; and the walk has the chance to be very enjoyable, and memorable to boot. So the best solution for laziness? Think of something difficult that you need to do. Something that you have been putting off for a while because it looks really hard. You want to do it, but the amount of work appears daunting. Think about each step you will need to take, and think about a rough estimate on how much time it will take to do each step. Now stop thinking, turn off the computer, and go do it. No matter how much you fear the hard work, how much you want to just sit and relax. No matter how difficult it seems in your head. Just shut your mind up and go do it. NOW! Do each step, one at a time, not worrying about how much work the next step will be; just do what's in front of you. The plan has already worked out the sequence, keep it flexable, but don't loose yourself in the plan. Get the work done, and adjust the plan as needed to finish the project. Take a few breaks, don't exhaust yourself. Everytime you have ten free minutes, don't turn on the TV, work on the project. (edit: also, anytime you find yourself watching TV for no reason other than 'there's nothing better to do', go work on the project. Be aware of the reasons for your actions) When your done, take a nice relaxing vacation from your work, and revel in the great feeling of having accomplished something you weren't sure you could do. And you won't be lazy anymore. I do gung fu, and this one lady keeps poking her head in, saying that one day, she'll join the class. Once she's brave enough, cause it looks like alot of work. Once she gets up the courage, she'll join. The teacher finally told her that if she waits until she's brave enough, she'll never join the class. if she wants to join, then she should just join - the courage to take the class will come with actually doing it.
Biofeedback of sorts. Step 1: read about endorphins. Step2: Learn to recognize a specific occurance that causes the release of them. Step 3: Pratice manually releasing them. Step4: Try and bind the release of endorphins to any disirable activity you wish. There you go, the foolproof key to any form of self improvement. Let's just hope you aren't to lazy to do all that. And also, with the fludity of the human mind, you need to redo it sometimes, because it can wear off.
I think that before I cure my laziness, I have to sleep. Sleeping refreshes you... so going to bet at say, 9/10... then waking up at like 6-8. Having coffee or some other nice stimulant, and then finding a comfy spot helps. Lay Ze's Law: There are never too many cushions. True. Put cushions all over the place. Make yourself a drink, get a snack. Be healthy. Try an oranje juice to drink, and baby tomatos to snack on (or sliced carrot sticks, cucumber... whatever). Then, get on of those trays that has a cushion on the bottom so that you can work on your lap. Get a lap top, paper, whatever you need... Prop your books up so you can read them well... and work.
