Can anyone advice me a good free usenet server? if so, then please do it!
I'm growing to become desperate. Found one, but it hadn't the newsgroups I wish to subscribe.

Google is free, pretty eclectic and has a good search tool.

I'm not your general net idiot/sunday user
do you think I would have posted a thread in sciforums if there was something in google?!
I spent over 2 hours on it going through different "free" newsservers, 90% didn't function, the rest required a password or were so slow I could have walked on foot to their server location faster.
I'd be ready to spend a few more hours , but I'm on a course paper deadline and don't have any free time, therefore I thoght that someone at sciforums might actually use those newsgroup servers and come up with a reasonable help, not advice me to look in google!

edit: and I asked for free newsservers not web interface newsgroup browsing
I need to access them through pop3

what do you seek on those news groups?, if it's a linux Q, there are plenty of forums out there

not linux Q , but linux news and tricks. I don't need a walkthrough, but a newsservice
besides it's a lot faster to get the all the news I want through pop3, not browse through forums

besides there are other nice groups , like alt.cyberpunk alt.salvia , etc (at least used to be, I used them a loong time ago)

I suggest going to software download sites, such as www.download.com and doing a search there. I had one that I used for a while but apparently waylaid it upon creating my new computer system. Let us know what you find.

Mr. Chips, do you actually know what a Usenet server is??? First you point him to google then to download.com. Seems to me you actually have NO idea what you're talking about.

Ah, look again, twasn't me who pointed him to google. I did make the mistake of thinking he was looking for a news reader rather than usenet servers when I suggested the download.com site. Thanks for pointing that out.
